For those who were old enough, they remember exactly where they were when the news broke. The world literally stood still. Everyone’s eyes were glued to the TV. We had a 9 month old then. Years later we would all visit the site of the World Trade Center. I remember being overcome with emotion and started to cry before we even reached the site. Roxy was crying, and she had not even been born when the attacks occurred.
Today we remember the thousands who lost their lives that day, the average citizens and the emergency personnel who became heroes, the rescue dogs, and those left behind who lost family members and friends.
Most importantly, we are reminded that the freedoms we enjoy as Americans are not free. Never forget. (Starting my day with my New York City coffee mug.)
