Sandy Hook
Sandy Hook (SHYCE) - A Private Community Sandy Hook Yacht Club Estates was started in the early 1960’s by a group of developers.
These developers created a non-profit corporation and they drafted restrictive covenants, articles of incorporation, bylaws, rules, regulations, guidelines and procedures for the new community to follow. In order to keep track of the rules and regulations and have a prosperous and solvent community, a volunteer Board of Trustees was created. Each board member has a position of responsibility, and
As an FYI - don't forget you can tune into FM 89.1 starting RIGHT NOW to listen to some tunes, while we await tonight's Fireworks Show's live countdown.
Because of the fabulously clear sky, the show will likely start a touch later than usual...likely ~1015/1020pm. If you're tuning into FM 89.1, I'll be providing updates and know exactly when it's going to happen!
Please remember to turn off your outdoor lights so your neighbors can enjoy the show.
Thanks for your support!

Good afternoon, neighbors!
The BIG DAY is finally here – tonight is Sandy Hook’s Annual 3rd Of July Show! Here is all the information you need to know about tonight – miscellaneous reminders, safety tips, and logistics.
We will begin broadcasting music ~9pm on FM 89.1, then when the show starts at dark (usually ~10pm), a custom soundtrack will accompany our show. Please tune in for a live countdown!
TOMORROW MORNING – Tuesday, July 4th – volunteers for beach cleanup of debris would be appreciated, gathering at the cabana ~10am.
The yellow caution tape closing off areas is a requirement in our contract with the pyrotechnics company, tied to our permits/insurance/licensing. Please respect the rules.
Thank you to all the volunteers who help make this community such a great place to live, those who have helped fund our show, and a new for this year – please remember to be kind to one another.
Thank you,
Ramon Wallace / The Fundraising Guy

Please join us for an informal potluck at the cabana, featuring our own members-caught seafood.
July 1 marks the beginning of summer crabbing, and we are blessed with some super low tides in early July as well. What better reason to have a seafood harvesting, cooking and eating potluck?!
This is a totally spontaneous, informal, not-official Sandy Hook gathering to share marine protein and side dishes in a good old-fashioned potluck over the July 4th holiday.
9 AM to NOON—CLAMMING on the beach
Meet at the cabana at 9 am and head to the tide flats to harvest clams. Never dug a geoduck? Not a problem. Let Charlie and Henry Phillips show you how. For a preview, go to Youtube and watch Charlie’s fun 2012 video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klAYUPv9-LA&t=1s. You will need your own bucket and fishing license. Want to get serious about geoducking? Get a 2-foot long, 8-inch diameter stove pipe and a razor clam cannon as well. Return to the cabana around noon, and we will help you clean your clams.
CRABBING
JULY 1 is the first day of crabbing season. If you’re going out on Sunday, please note the super low tides at approximately 10 am on July 1 and 10:40 on July 2. If you bring Sunday-caught crabs back to the Cabana on Sunday afternoon, we will have crab cookers on hand for you to throw your crabs in.
CABANA EVENTS
9 am Clammers meet at cabana to head out to beach.
11:45 Volunteers meet to arrange tables, set up crab cookers, set up clam cookers, ice chests, etc.
Noon Clammers return. Clam cleaning and chowder making begin (we will have an induction cooktop for 2 pots, and propane cookers).
2 pm Crabbers head out to retrieve their crabs. Sandy Hook folks come to the cabana with their side dishes and wave to the crabbers heading out and returning as they pass by the pool.
3:30 pm The feast begins! The chowder is done, crabbers bring their fresh crabs and saved salmon to the cabana to cook up, and the feast starts!
6 -7 pm Clean up
If you’d like to help pull this together (side dishes, grilling, etc.), please contact Steve Phillips at 206.819.5927. He could use some help!
Volunteers Needed

Crab Boat open seats coordinator: Someone to put crab boat skippers having room in touch with those wanting to go. Crabbers, please let us know how many spots you can offer and meet at the cabana at noon to offer a spot on your boat. Those wanting to join in without a boat, this is your chance! Remember your license and crab catch card and bucket!
