Our team would like to take a moment to celebrate the incredible spirit of two dedicated Clevelanders! Brent Misenko and Renne Misenko, these amazing Ward 12 residents, came to our rescue yesterday when our plan to hang flags on West 25th Street didn’t go as expected. With his ladder and a generous willingness Brent showed up ready to help, these remarkable Clevelanders stepped forward after a long day of work, giving their all to ensure our city was proudly represented. Brent and Renne exemplify the true essence of Cleveland—Community, Progress, Power, Pride, and Prosperity.
From all of us, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Cleveland truly appreciates you and your outstanding effort!

When Susan Hepburn designed the Cleveland flag in 1895 and won the contest in 1896, she was never given an official Cleveland flag. Back then, flags weren’t mass-produced like they are today. As a result, Susan didn’t have her own flag until 70 years after she design the flag.
"I’ve always wanted to have one of those Cleveland flags," Mrs. Beach shared from her home at 19015 Van Aken Blvd., Shaker Heights. "I simply drew the design, with an anvil and wheel to symbolize Cleveland’s industry, and a capstan with oars representing the city’s maritime side. But I never had an actual flag." — Susan Hepburn
Today, this historic flag, along with a brass key to the city, is in the hands of her great-granddaughter, Kristen Fragassi, ensuring its preservation.

From Cleveland to the seven seas, sailing with progress and prosperity!
Our beautiful flag, created in 1895 by Susan Hepburn Beach, resonates with this historic milestone now more than ever. The central shield features an anvil, hammer, and wheel, representing Cleveland's rich industrial heritage and manufacturing strength and the anchor, windlass, and oars highlight Cleveland's vital role as a major port on the Great Lakes, two elements that make our city unique and underscore the significance of this moment!
We're honored to contribute our piece of Cleveland history to this. Thank you to the sailors of the USS Cleveland for your service and for an amazing tour today!
We cannot an't wait for what's to come next!
