August is National Multiethnic Donor Awareness Month, a collaborative effort to save lives and improve the quality of life for diverse communities by fostering a positive culture around organ, eye and tissue donation. Why is NMDAM needed? 60% of patients on the national transplant waiting list are from multicultural communities. The need for donation and transplant is more pronounced in minority communities where disproportionately higher rates of diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease contribute to organ failure, especially kidney failure.

Some of the strongest connections in the donation community begin with a single act of generosity. This International Day of Friendship, we're celebrating the relationships, support systems, and shared journeys that bring donor families, recipients, living donors, and supporters together. πŸ’š

🦁 What an incredible day at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo! 🦁

Lifebanc teamed up with 93.1 WZAK to bring our lifesaving mission to the community in the most fun way possible. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, learned about the power of organ, eye, and tissue donation, and helped us spread the word that one donor can save up to 8 lives and heal more than 75 others.

A huge thank you to our partners and volunteers who made this event happen β€” and to every visitor who took a moment to stop by. πŸ’š

Yesterday, Lifebanc CEO Katie Payne joined Kristy Christie β€” mother of organ donor Keira Christie and founder of Team Kini Bini β€” on Fox 8's morning show to talk about the power of organ donation and the upcoming Gift of Life Walk & Run! πŸ’š

Since losing her daughter Keira in 2018, Kristy has turned her grief into action, raising nearly $150,000 for Lifebanc to honor Keira's legacy and the lives saved through her gift. Conversations like this one help us keep spreading the message: one donor can change so many lives.

A school project became an opportunity to educate and inspire. πŸ’™πŸ’š

Zachary Stewart-Lewis, an eighth-grade student at Hawken School, recently completed a project about organ donation, inspired by his mother’s work as a transplant surgeon at University Hospitals.

With support from Lifebanc and Brody’s Good Vibe Tribe, Zachary shared what he learned with elementary and middle school students, as well as adults in his community. He stepped outside his comfort zone, led meaningful conversations and helped others better understand the lifesaving impact of organ donation.

We are so proud of Zachary for using his voice to educate others and help spread the message of donation!
