We are proud to welcome a premier Real Estate Finance and Structured Finance team from Reed Smith to Benesch, marking a significant expansion of our nationally recognized Real Estate Practice Group while supporting the launch of our Miami office and enhancing our presence in New York!

The addition of approximately 20 lawyers strengthens our capabilities across commercial real estate finance, securitization, secondary market transactions and complex lending matters. Together, we are building a more integrated practice offering that enables borrowers, developers, lenders and investors to access sophisticated financing solutions across the full capital stack and throughout the lifecycle of a transaction.

Led by Jodi Abramowitz Schwimmer and Randy Eckers, the team brings extensive experience across the full spectrum of commercial real estate finance and structured finance transactions, helping clients navigate increasingly complex capital markets and financing challenges.

Federal Court Hands Major Win To Tissue Product Manufacturers - FDA’s HCT/P Classification Decision For Umbilical Cord–Derived Product CORDGRAFT Rejected | Benesch Law On March 18, 2026, Chief Judge Brian C. Wimes of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri issued a significant decision overturning the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (“FDA”) classification of Vitti Labs’ umbilical cord–derived product, CORDGRAFT.

Benesch Energy Practice Lead Trevor Alexander, with support from Partner Mark Keaney and Associate Samantha Meng, recently secured a unanimous Ohio Supreme Court victory in a significant utility regulatory appeal. The decision reinforces the deference afforded to prudency determinations by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio and reflects the depth of Benesch's Energy Practice.

The 2026 Special Olympics USA Games have wrapped in Minneapolis, with the torch now officially passed to Cleveland as the city prepares to host the Games in 2030. Benesch Managing Partner Gregg Eisenberg, who was in attendance for the opening ceremony along with the rest of the Cleveland coalition, was appointed co-chair of the 2030 Cleveland Games.

Benesch played a pivotal role in supporting the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission and efforts to secure the city’s bid, providing guidance and support throughout the process, hosting the site selection committee last year and convening the official signing ceremony.

Benesch is proud to be part of a community that consistently comes together to achieve great things, and we look forward to welcoming the Special Olympics athletes and their families to Cleveland in 2030!
