OB neighbors, please share widely! Cuyahoga County has an incredible program to help families retain generational wealth by ensuring that they transfer houses upon the death of loved ones. Far too often, people don't plan for property transfer and houses languish for years after a person passes away. This program is FREE and very, very simple.

You've likely noticed that work has begun at the Memphis & Pearl Redevelopment Site, with the addition of construction barriers and fencing. You will begin to see more activity on site as demolition and environmental remediation work get underway. This work prepares the site for the future redevelopment project, with new construction expected to begin later this year.
We know there are a lot of questions about what’s happening at the corner and what this work means for the neighborhood. We’ve created a new FAQ page with information about construction impacts, traffic, demolition, project timelines, community input, and more.
Read the FAQ and follow project updates at: oldbrooklyn.com/memphispearl

Good news for Old Brooklyn 👏 Several local businesses were just awarded funding through the City of Cleveland - City Hall's latest round of Steelyard TIF grants, part of a broader investment in neighborhood business districts across the city. A total of $280,099.12 has been awarded through the latest round of the Steelyard TIF Grant Program to 19 small businesses and one community development organization across six Cleveland neighborhoods.
Congrats to:
• The Miscreant & The Muse
• Dahlia Coffee Co.
• Slices Fabulous Cakes
• Presswork Graphics
• S**g Vintage
The City also reopened the Storefront Renovation Program, creating more opportunities for businesses to invest in their storefronts.
Congrats to all of the small businesses awarded, as well as our friends over at Metro West Community Development Organization!

Old Brooklyn, don't forget to vote tomorrow. Primaries are when each party decides who their candidates will be in November. We have a neighbor, Nicole Sigurdson running for State House on the ballot! Be sure to request the Democratic party ballot to support her! Over on the Republican ballot you need to chose between the notorious conman, Vivek Ramaswammy or the neo-Nazi Casey Putsch for the Governor's seat. And if you think I'm exaggerating on either of them, google it.

Friends and neighbors, I don't do this often but Judge Vodrey deserves your support! Please vote for him on May 5th. Politics can often spill over into the courtroom and we need Judges that keep it professional and straight laced. And when you look up "straight laced" in the dictionary there's a picture of this guy! William Vodrey is great. https://www.facebook.com/VoteVodrey
Vote Vodrey for Judge William Vodrey is a judge of the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas. He began his six-year term in Jan. 2021. He hopes to continue his service to the people of Cuyahoga County, and is now running for reelection in the Nov. 3, 2026 general election.

**POLL CLOSED** Thank you!
Again - Old Brooklyn residents only... next up is Loew Park. We are going to freshen the place up with some new playground equipment, picnic tables and basics like that. However, there is also a proposal on the table to add lights to the walking path. While listening to neighbors, there was a big concern about turning it into a "used car lot" with a million bright lights. There were also concerns about light pollution making it harder to see the stars at night. What we are proposing is directional lights that specifically point down, and just in a way that illuminates the path. That way, late evening joggers or dog walkers can enjoy the park safely, while people who might be up to no good (looking at you 24/7/365 fireworks fans!!) might be discouraged to hang out. What do you all think? "Thumbs Up" = YES, do it! "Angry Face" = NO, don't do it.

I have seen a bald eagle flying over Old Brooklyn twice in the last few months. Does anyone have any pictures of it??
EDIT: Robyn off Memphis shared these photos! Thanks Robyn!!
