Cultivating pathways to Jewish embodiment to catalyze a better future for all. Home of The Mitsui Institute for Jewish Embodiment & Studio Mitsui.
Mitsui Collective builds resilient community through embodied Jewish practice and somatic antiracism. We envision vibrant, resilient, and diverse Jewish communities that model personal, social, and environmental well-being through embodied spiritual practice based in liberatory anti-oppression theory and praxis. Part two from last week’s Mitsui Movement session at Studio Mitsui! Partner guided improv / integrating B’reish*t forms and embodying the waxing and waning cycles of the Hebrew calendar as we approached the full moon of Adar and the Purim holiday.
Embodied chevruta (partnership) learning is a core element of our practice and deeply shapes our embodied learning and experience. We’re not only practicing technique, we’re also practicing being in partnership — asking and exploring what it looks and feels like to be a good partner in whichever practice we’re doing.
Join us! Wednesday evenings at studios on Larchmere with an expanded schedule coming soon!
Segments from last week’s Mitsui Movement session at Studio Mitsui! As the full moon of Adar and the holiday of Purim approaches, we’ve been using some of our B’reish*t forms based on the seven days of creation to practice our own creative embodiment, with an additional focus on embodying cycles of waxing and waning with the moon cycle.
Here’s part one, practicing the forms in both standing and walking positions. Part two partner guided improv video coming shortly!

Embodiment in Jewish mystical practice happens across space, time, and soul.
Here’s a little clip from last night’s warm up practice in our Mitsui Movement class at Studio Mitsui Cleveland. We began with some classic ball drop partner games and then added a prompt to move in rhythm with the music as well — adding a fun and challenging layer of complexity to move not just in coordination through space but also in coordination with time.
Rhythm is so often completely ignored in non-dance movement practice but it’s fundamental!
(While we’re not completely “not dancing” here, this also isn’t meant to be exclusively a dance practice - we blur the lines on purpose!)
And it’s all so good and necessary for the soul. Especially right now.
We were also so excited and grateful to have our first session at the gorgeous Sha’Ran Studios () in the vibrant and historic Larchmere neighborhood where we’ve taken up residency for our Winter and Spring classes moving forward!
Mitsui Movement sessions are currently on Wednesday evenings and we’ve got several more Studio Mitsui Cleveland class types and times we’re excited to be adding soon.
Your first session is free! Come check us out and be in touch with questions or requests.
