Some of the greatest lessons taught at DHRR aren’t learned in the saddle.
They’re learned when a child gets back on after being scared.
When they choose patience over frustration.
When they learn that trust is earned, not demanded.
When they discover they are capable of more than they believed.
The horses help teach horsemanship, but Jesus is teaching so much more.
Every lesson is about building confidence, character, responsibility, and faith, one ride at a time. ❤️🐴

If you’re standing at the barn in your pajamas petting horses and it’s almost dark… you’re probably living your best life. 😂🐴❤️

This will be the only time you see these three amigos with their heads down. Normally these ones are WIDE OPEN. 🤣😂🤣 Equine dentist today and they are all asleep! 😴
One of the most overlooked parts of horse care is dental health. 🐴🦷
A horse’s teeth never stop growing, and sharp points, uneven wear, or dental issues can affect everything from eating and weight gain to behavior and performance under saddle.
Sometimes what looks like a training problem is actually a mouth problem.
Regular dental care helps keep our horses comfortable, healthy, and able to do their jobs well. A comfortable horse is a happier horse. ❤️

In a world that moves way too fast, I’m thankful for moments like these. Horses have a way of slowing us down enough to hear what God has been saying all along.
Be still, and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10
Healing doesn’t always happen in a counselor’s office. Sometimes it happens on a trail, under the trees, with the Lord gently reminding us we’re not carrying life alone. ❤️🐴”

We took a few of the kids to Farmer’s Pond today and had the place almost to ourselves for most of the morning!! What a fun day!
Thanks so much Rachel and Christine for helping with snacks and drinks and just pouring into these kids each week like you guys do! What a blessing it is to be able to do this with people who truly care about these kids! ❤️🙏🏽

Jealousy will make you do things your character never would.
We see it all the time with horses, and sadly we see it all the time with people too.
Recently at a barrel race, a teenage girl allegedly went into stalls and cut horses. Think about that for a minute. Innocent animals becoming targets because jealousy, bitterness, or insecurity was allowed to grow unchecked.
Parents, this is why character matters more than trophies. More than buckles. More than winning.
At DHRR, we work with teenage girls every week, and one of the biggest struggles we see is comparison that sometimes turns into jealousy. Social media tells them to compare. The world tells them to compete. But comparison is a thief. It steals joy, friendships, confidence, and eventually can steal a person’s integrity if left unchecked.
As parents, mentors, and leaders, we have to teach our kids that someone else’s success is not their failure. Celebrate others. Cheer for others. Learn from others.
Galatians 5:26 says, “Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.”
Jealousy is a dangerous thing when it’s fed. But gratitude and humility will starve it every time.
Raise kids who clap when others win. The world needs more of that. ❤️🐴 Also please pray for the people and horses affected by this horrible attack that happened in Las Vegas. 🙏🏽

Sometimes I think the horses understand things we humans struggle with.
How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity. Psalm 133:1
In a world that pushes competition, division, and comparison, God calls us to unity. There is something beautiful about standing together, sharing what we’ve been given, and trusting that He will provide enough for everyone.
Maybe that’s the lesson from the pasture today. ❤️🐴
