After retirement, Dona Hodges began taking pottery classes at the local park and rec center. She then went on to take classes at Gainesville College and John C. Campbell Folk School. Over the next seventeen years her hobby grew into a passion that has taken over the family workshop in Cu***ng, GA. Her inspiration comes from nature as she overlooks God's handy work out her tree house studio.

Visit Dona and see more of her work at the Folk Pottery & Arts Festival on August 31st. For more information on the Festival visit www.FolkPotteryMuseum.com

👀 See:

🖼️ From the Lowlands to the Highlands: Will Henry Stevens’ life (1881-1949) began and ended in a small riverboat community along the Ohio River, but the years between spent in New Orleans and Western North Carolina were defined by his tireless pursuit of a visual language for his vast creative energy. His enduring curiosity about the natural world, and his belief that there was a purpose – a design – in nature, led him effortlessly between representational and abstraction as he freely adjusted both style and medium to convey nature’s essence. This monumental exhibition includes both landscapes and abstracts capturing the two regions closest to the artist’s heart, the Louisiana bayou and the Appalachian Mountains. (On display beginning August 17)

📸 Fragmented Reality: Visit the exhibition by our 2024 Photography Artist in Residence, Erik Mace. This visual artist combines photography, graphic design, and book arts to challenge and transform perceptions of the natural world.

🖨️ PRESS ON!: Asheville Printmakers is an independent alliance of artists who express themselves through the medium of the print. Its membership encompasses both experienced and emerging artists, as well as those new to printmaking. The participants define “the print” broadly to encompass a wide range of processes and content, from traditional to experimental, and classic to contemporary. (On display through August 17)

🌳 The Outdoor Sculpture Program: Now in its fourth year, this program features new works by celebrated local and regional artists on The Bascom Campus along the Horst Winkler Sculpture Trail and in Cashiers, through the efforts of our partner organization, Vision Cashiers.

Best of all, admission to The Bascom is always free.
