Hummingbirds……Hummers

Hummmmmm…….Humming is so soothing. It just calms the nerves and just brings a peacefulness over you when you do it.

The men in my life hum. I can always tell when my son Quillen is happy because he is humming. When he is working on his bike, he hums, when he puts together Legos, he hums, when he cooks, he hums. His Dad hums too. He butt dials me a lot and half the time I hear him in the background just humming. Just listening to them hum makes me smile. It is kind of a rhythmic joy that is contagious.

It is something you can do by yourself, you don’t need words, you don’t need a friend, you don’t need an instrument; you just need you. You are enough. It is a wordless song that says everything and nothing at all. Maybe today you just need to relax, no words, no thoughts, just a hum.

Whether I am watching a hummer in the wild or in my house tinkering, they both bring me pleasure.
