Clarksville Police Chief Ricky Wilkinson phoned me today to explain the steps the police are taking to protect the 5th Street fishing park—increased patrols (which I had already noticed), fishing license checks (in concert with Conservation Police), reminding people not to litter (or they might lose all access to the fishing area), and getting illegally parked vehicles to move up to the parking area just past East and 5th (in front of my house). Chief Wilkinson stayed on the phone with me for quite awhile, and he is clearly prioritizing this little stretch of nature/fishing park. Kudos and thanks to the Town and to the Police Department.
People are regularly driving right around the new parking barriers and parking right on the path (5th Street fishing park). Over half leave behind fishing line/hooks, litter, and broken beer bottles.
Hi Clarksville Police Department. I've took some pictures from the National Night Out. I hope you like them.

Found DOG: This dog showed up at my house tonight on Jeffress Rd, right outside of town. He is friendly, neutered, has a collar but no tag. Sharing in case anyone has called and reported him missing.

This Thanksgiving weekend, millions will head out on our nation's roads, eager to spend time with family and friends. It’s one of the busiest travel times of the year. More traffic on the roads means the potential for more vehicle crashes. Stay safe! Buckle everyone on every trip.

National "Do Not Disturb While Driving" Day is October 20, 2022!

DRIVE SMART Virginia and EndDD.org are excited to let you know of a great opportunity to reduce distracted driving. October 20th is the first-ever “Do Not Disturb While Driving Day.”

These Do Not Disturb (DND) settings on our phones can block incoming notifications when the car is moving. Because, if we hear our phones, we are going to look at them. They are nearly impossible to resist. These life-saving settings are vastly underused. But, with your help we can change that.

Public Notice:

On Sunday, October 16, 2022, the Clarksville Police Department was made aware of several vulture/buzzard carcassas in town at two of their common roosting places. After consulting with the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources, it is believed that these birds died as a result of the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenze (HPAI) as many cases have been seen throughout the Commonwealth. The police department and town employees retrieved these carcasses and properly disposed of them following the guidance of the VA DWR.

Clarksville Police Department and the Town of Clarksville recommends not handling any bird carcasses and to keep your pets and poultry away from the same. If you do encounter any, maintain a safe distance and contact law enforcement.

Found! Is this your cat?

I live on Buffalo Road in Clarksville. This very tame, solid white, beautiful and possibly pregnant cat showed up at my house 2 days ago. I think she is someone's pet because she keeps trying to come in my house. She is not feral. Very sweet and loving.
