At our Emmanuel Care Center in Colombia our incredible teachers are always using innovative ways to make learning interactive and exciting. Our children love using craft and our Grade 1 children recently learnt all about plants by creating their own flowers out of straws, string and modelling clay.

At Stand by Me, just 78 cents provides a complete meal for one child. We care for 330 children at our school who receive a warm, nourishing meal to start the day, giving them strength, helping them focus in school and easing the burden their parents carry each day.

Math teacher César at our Emmanual Care Center in Colombia ran Maths Olympics for our kids. Each grade took park and worked together to solve a series of interactive math tasks to win prizes. Special events like these help to make learning fun, engaging and dynamic for our children.

A birthday cake can mean so much to a child in poverty. Across our four countries we celebrate birthdays with cakes, presents and parties which help our children feel loved. Until they joined our care many of our children had never celebrated their birthday before so every birthday they mark as a Stand by Me child is treasured.

Our top students at the Abdi Academy in Ethiopia where given watches as a prize for their hard work and high achievements. Well done!

For Children’s Day at the Emmanuel Care Center in Colombia our children dressed up as what they would like to be when they grow up. We had children dress as doctors, chefs, firefighters, police officers, teachers, builders and even a cyclist.

During a recent team trip from the UK, our kids at the Denisa Care Center in Romania learned to sew. They tried cross stitching, knitting and even had the opportunity to use a sewing machine. Learning these new skills give our kids the opportunity to try new things and discover new talents.

During the local education department’s recent trip to our Abdi Academy in Ethiopia, our staff and children did a wonderful job of showing everything that makes the school exceptional. The day began with a musical welcome from the children, then a tour around the school building visiting classrooms like the IT lab, KG rooms, science lab and even the coffee garden. Our children demonstrated what they had been learning in class and the visitors where amazed by the resources and facilities that they have access to.

Our Denisa Care Center in Romania organised a cake decorating activity for the children. Each child was given their own small cake to decorate and take home to share with their families.
