Another experimental piece in the 2020 collection. This one is iris black with some shade of opaque green that said to try. She was right (btw she’s always right). The green is layered on top of the iris black after the crackle and pre optic. This has a very interesting glow to it since the green is not transparent. Need to try some more opaque crackle tests for sure based on this one. Stem is reduced iris black in a piglet tail stem.

One of my favorite things about making pumpkins is the ability to experiment. Since people have a huge variety of taste when it comes to what they want to buy, I don’t have to worry (as much) about what would be “marketable.”
This is encased enamel white with iris black AND green luster crackled. The slight purple shadow cast onto the white inside layer gives the crackle a much lighter feel. The luster and iris crackled together is a very unique effect that is subtle until you get up close.
Definitely a one of a kind piece that still takes all of the elements from this years collection.

Smokey purple with green luster. This is iris black and enamel white encased in clear with the luster applied before the optic mold. I really like how the reaction between the black and white is softened when encased.

Adding in a mica powder to my toolset this year has brought so many shiny surprises. This champagne beauty stands over 8” tall and includes the mica finish on the pumpkin and the stem.

This is a frit mix made by called Florida mix. It’s all transparent colors, so I like to back it with white. In this application I’ve done two layers of the color so you get some really deep dark colors combined with bright spots where there is only one layer. Very festive and textural.

I just can’t stay away from my favorite pumpkin color combo of enamel white and saffron. Every one is unique due to the reaction between the two colors. Check out the up close shot so you can see how the enamel white tries to pull and push the orange out of the way.
