In celebration of , we honor Cincinnati's own DJ Pillo. Not sure exactly when and where we crossed paths but I know there's been a few Cincinnati sitings. Walking through the rows of cassettes, cds, and vinyl at Phil's Records, on the sales floor at ICB Audio, shopping around at or spinning inside Everybody's Records, and even most recently being surprised by seeing him actively dj'ing at the indoor roller rink at the Over-The-Rhine Community Center etc. During that last interaction we talked about music, dj'ing full time, and the culture. Seems like he's always wherever the music is. When he's not playing music alone you might catch him spinning with Cincinnati's Selecta's Choice crew.

For what it's worth, I've got a lot of dj friends. I hang out at times with djs. Pillo stands out in many ways. We haven't necessarily sat down at the same table at Thanksgiving, but I'm thankful that he is giving. Giving with his talent. Giving with his warmth. Giving with his kindness. While continuing to put the needle in the groove while continuously moving the cultural needle forward.

Cool. Laid back. Standing on business. Music business. .

I’m trying to start a positive movement by sharing throughout . I seek not to take away from Black History Month. I seek to add positive energy to it. There seems to be a push for inclusion and acceptance, but there is a lot to celebrate and many people's champions all around us.
