At Water Level

Sometimes the spur-of-the-moment trips are the best ones. Dragged the ultralight down a steep bank and hit the Great Miami with Tim for a couple hours before sunset. Nothing huge, just a good evening working the edge of the river. 🎣

Travis put me on the fish. 🎣

After losing an absolute river giant on my last trip down the Whitewater, I came back with some unfinished business.

This time I teamed up with Travis Bauer from LMRO , and he delivered. Big smallmouth, an eagle overhead, an incredible lunch on the river, and one of those days you don’t forget.

And yeah… redemption was had. 😂 Huge thanks to Travis for an awesome day on the water and for putting me on some absolute river brutes.

Well… the CrestCraft might be a little too tight for the two of us!

My line got wrapped up in the reel and the bait dropped from about 5 feet above Kristen’s head before I ever even threw it — thank God. One hook buried into her scalp past the barb and our fishing trip turned into an unexpected ER visit.

She is an absolute trooper! I seriously doubt she’ll be getting back in the CrestCraft anytime soon… and I think I just earned double house-chore duty for a while. 😂

Couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend my birthday. Two beautiful days on the river for Kristen’s first kayak camping trip—great weather, good food, some fish, cool rocks, and plenty of memories along the way.

We wrapped it all up with a birthday dinner and time with family when we got home. Pretty great way to celebrate another trip around the sun !

I Finally Caught the 20+ Inch River Smallmouth I've Been Chasing Six miles on the Great Miami River with my buddy Tim turned into on...

I’ve traveled all over chasing fish recently. Michigan, Kentucky, Indiana… creeks, rivers, lakes, tributaries..
And somehow, my new PB smallmouth was waiting for me right here at home.

Less than 15 minutes from my house, on the river I’ve fished more than any other.

Grateful and thankful is an understatement. Just getting the opportunity to come across a fish like this is special — actually sticking her and getting her in the boat is something I won’t forget!

An absolute brute that hit like a truck and officially broke my weight PB.

I’ve got the whole day on video, and I can’t wait to share this one.
