Wednesday June 18 at 5:30 pm. This program, entitled “Artist: Promote Thyself!”, is a not-to-miss opportunity to understand what it takes to get the word out about your work:
Don’t miss what has to be one of ChiVAA’s most valuable Meetings with a Message for artists. It’s at 1078 Gallery on Wednesday June 18 and it’s all about how to promote your art. Dolores Mitchell will attempt to squelch the all too common anxiety artists experience when writing statements. She’ll give tips on a creative approach to statements that counteracts fear of failure. Then, Jason Cassidy, the Chico News and Review Arts Editor, will share his “receiving end” perspective on materials that artists send him. He’ll give plenty of examples on what works, what does not, and why. The talks begin at 6 pm but the 5:30 social hour will allow you to chat with old and new friends in a spacious, air-conditioned setting–and, with inventive snacks.

June 18, 2014, Wednesday 5:30 t0 7:30, Meeting with a Message, 1078 Gallery: “Professional Presentation/How to Promote Yourself as an Artist.” If you are an artist, whether you are already exhibiting your work or just beginning to think about it, this meeting is for you. ChiVAA is planning an evening full of practical information imparted by experts in the field.
These meetings are structured to allow an orderly presentation of information as well as ample time for questions and discussion. They are worth their weight in gold. Yet…they are free!

Now in its fourth year, “Art at the Matador” presents a living gallery in this iconic Mission-style motel on the historic Esplanade. All three ARTabout neighborhoods will join us at this free, family-friendly celebration of local art, music, and performances on Friday May 9 (4-9pm) and Saturday May 10 (2-9pm). Enjoy live music as you meander through the rooms! Mutant Vehicles, Jazz, Extreme Quick Draw, Lumininjas Fire Dancing, Djs and a Cantina! Join us for a springtime weekend with seventy-five artists and a whole community celebrating our unique visual culture.
