The results for the 2026 August Zone Battle are in, and the NORTH SIDE IS VICTORIOUS!!!! After a *historic* rise to the top, the North Side has taken back the trophy from the West/South Sides!! In the end, the North collected roughly 106 bags of trash outside of group cleanup events, while the West + South Sides collected a still very impactful 65 bags. Together, our members collected roughly 171 bags total, which smashed our previous record of 126 for the August Zone Battle!!!! Great job to everyone who participated in this extracurricular cleaning event.

When it comes to individual litter pickers, the seemingly invincible easily won with a whopping 50 bags of litter collected in Buena Park!! West Side Captain finishes in 2nd place with 19 bags collected in Humboldt Park, and .haupert finished in 3rd with 17 bags collected in Cabrini Green/Old Town. John and Theresa also went hard, collecting 13 and 12.5 bags respectively. We'll reach out about the prizes shortly, but thanks to everyone who joined in the fun!! ( Sorry it won't let me tag everyone!!!)

Are you a bird nerd who also enjoys community improvement? Or maybe a litter picker who enjoys nature and would like to learn more about bird species? Then you should definitely join us for some birdwatching in Humboldt Park followed by a litter cleanup! We're collaborating with to do a bird walk through the park followed by some thorough park cleaning. There's one week left in the August Zone Battle, and the North Side is dead set on taking back the trophy after last year's loss! At this point, we have to ask: West and South Sides, u okay?!

We also have some individual leaders, with superhuman Steven Kelsey currently collecting multiple buckets of trash daily! Theresa and John are hovering around 9-10 bags, followed by Libby Haupert and Ilana Morgan Lopez !! We have some great prizes for the top 3 litter pickers, including a trophy, gift cards, and merch, so keep on keepin on, litter warriors!!

We're halfway through the August Zone Battle, and the North Side is still in the lead! The West & South Sides are still within striking distance though, and so far we've collected 59 bags of trash, which is a huge effort outside of our group cleanups. continues to lead the individual litter picking by filling buckets daily!
