Tomorrow marks four years since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. This is deeply personal for me. I was born in Ukraine, and my entire family is Ukrainian. Being able to return to Kyiv and reconnect with my roots and culture has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. The last four years have been nothing short of heartbreaking.
I have many friends living in Ukraine. Some are defending the country; others are volunteering. All of them are living through something most of us cannot even imagine. I have been fortunate to be able to travel to Ukraine over the past two years, and I will continue returning in solidarity.
Today, I am joining the fundraiser organized by to support , a volunteer unit made up of civilians who stepped forward to help defend Ukraine. The war has not ended. It is more brutal than ever, especially this winter. People need help, and Ukraine is still standing because of the brave people holding the line and protecting the rest of us.
