Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when the final enslaved Black Americans in Galveston, Texas learned of their freedom—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
As we commemorate this important day, we reflect on the progress made, acknowledge the work that remains, and celebrate the contributions, culture, and achievements of Black communities.
