To go outside is to step out of psychological time. To come into contact with what is real, immediate, and alive. It is to stop rehearsing loss and start perceiving beauty again—not because the loss is gone, but because beauty and sorrow are not separate. They belong to the same vast, unspeakable field.
My album was not a cure. It was not closure. It was a door. A gesture. A way of saying: I am still here. I can still walk, still write, still listen. I can grieve and live at once. Time has passed. It will continue to pass. But there is something timeless in the act of opening the door, of taking one breath, of seeing the world as if for the first time. So now, when sorrow comes—and it still does—I don’t retreat. I go outside.
And in doing so, I meet time not as a burden, but as a companion. Not something to escape, but something to walk with. Lightly. As one who remembers, and chooses to begin again.
