Waaayyy back in the 80’s I use to make gift baskets, I sewed and dressed all the bears and decorated the baskets! And this was before gift baskets were a thing, A Basketful by Donna Marie was my business name. I have always been about creativity! And yes I sew or I use to! 🤣

I created this in 2018, I was still teaching myself, learning what I could do and couldn’t do but most often I would push or completely ignore the “couldn’t do”, I would make a way outta no way! Her name was Queen Hatitude!

The Warrior is finished! I started creating a series I called Rooted Women, each was/is an aspect of who I am, have been over the course of my life. There was The Elder, The Warrior and The Truth Teller. While the first Warrior was drying, her arm broke along with the spear she was holding. I made another. The Elder and the glaze had a disagreement. The Truth Teller and the newer Warrior survived!

Truth Teller. Cowrie shell? No. The Warrior. This fabric? Yes! With this pattern showing..? Mmmm…maybe the figure? Mmm…? The original Warrior’s arm broke, that means she’s mine. The Elder and the glaze did NOT like each other! She will be back!
