Trying to figure out my hair type and looking for recommendations
I've been led to think my hair is of the wavy variety after treating them like straight hair for... 25 years ? And have been trying out products, however I'd rather not spend thousands in the void, so here I am humbly asking for advice !
My hair also seems to be rather fine, so the surf spray, gel and cream I'm using might weigh them down a bit. I'm a bit lost, NGL.
Thanks in advance for any help and advice, y'all rock the casbah 🖤

Hair became thin, frizzy, and wavy after coloring – need advice
Hi everyone, my hair was naturally straight a few months ago, but after coloring it, it has become thinner, frizzy, and wavy. I've also noticed more dryness and rough texture. I tried a salon/parlour hair spa, but it didn't help much.
Has anyone experienced something similar after hair coloring? Could you please suggest a simple haircare routine, shampoo, hair mask, or any tips that helped you recover your hair?

is my hair damaged or am i using the wrong products?
This is what my hair looks like now freshly washed and air dried, I usually don’t blow dry it because I have no time and i have a lotttt of hair. It’s not dry per se, more so it just gets tangled easily and looks messy. I have naturally jet black hair but I got a balayage a few months ago. Ever since then my hair has been frizzy out the shower unless I style or blow dry it. I just want it to look at least less frizzy and poofy. For reference my background is Southeast Asian/Filipino and curly/wavy hair runs in my family but growing up I always had straight(ish) hair. Any advice on products, hair care, treatments, salon maintenance, etc pls!!

seeking advice; my hair is sleek on one side but frizzy and dry on the other
hi!! ive been dealing with this problem for a while! my hair is bottle blonde, ive been dyeing/bleaching for several years but have recently decided to give my hair a break and let it grow out!! i use california naturals hair growth shampoo, conditioner, and their rose hair mask every other hair wash. i wash my hair every other day, and when i get out i use it’s a 10 and ogx hair oil! every once in a while i oil the ends with rosemary mint oil and coconut oil, and i blow dry my hair when i want it to be straighter using loreal elvive frizz killer serum. the left side of my hair is always behaving and loves my routine! the right side not so much :( ive tried bonding treatments, protein makes my hair feel so nasty and dry! cutting it is my last resort because i want my hair to be long but if thats what i need to do ill do it. TIA!

Ugh! How do I manage my frizzy hair
My hair texture got really bad, they were more straight and smooth 3 yrs ago before I got diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder for which I had to take high dose steroids, my hair shed like crazy after that and when new hair grew, the texture changed COMPLETELY, they’re all curly and frizzy now, I even tried curly hair routine but they are manageable for just the hairwash day, from 2nd day onwards they’re back to this. I have no patience for home remedies, but i’ll try, i’ve tried eggs but Ive not been consistent. I always have to tie my hair up because of the texture and look. Ughhhhh Please help!!!!!!

Tried a satin bonnet for one night - is this normal?
I finally tried sleeping with a satin bonnet last night after seeing people recommend them for frizz and breakage.
My hair did seem less tangled when I woke up, and the ends looked a little smoother than usual. But the front pieces were kind of flattened, and the bonnet slipped back a bit during the night. I’m not sure if I wore it wrong, if my hair was too loose inside, or if this is just something you have to get used to.
For people who use bonnets regularly, did it take a few tries to figure out how to wear it comfortably? And did you notice better results after using it consistently, or was the first-night result pretty much what I should expect?

Please stop overdoing protein you are ruining your hair
I see a post almost every day about hair damage and pictures with very brittle dry hair and everyone in the comments is always saying "It looks like you're treating wavy hair as straight". And while that can be the case sometimes, it looks very different from damaged and brittle hair.
My hair also randomly became wavy after being straight my whole life and I got really into taking care of it and wanting the waves more defined so it doesn't look frizzy. But the thing is, every product on the market now is using protein as a positive thing and it's in so many shampoos and conditioners and masks that it's quite hard to avoid. But the truth is, I completely damaged my hair after "taking care of it" with all these products without even realizing. I kept slathering on more masks and conditioners because I thought I needed more moisture without even realizing they all had protein.
So please, if you're experiencing split ends (which I didn't have until I started using protein by accident that often), check all of your products for protein and at least temporarily stop the proteins so your hair can recover.
Also, lots of people say using clarifying shampoo is enough to offset the high protein but that didn't help me at all. You first need to stop whatever is causing the damage. And finally, there's lots of comments about low porosity hair does well with protein but that's also not always the case. My hair is extremely low porosity and did not handle protein well at all. It just needed light weight hydration.
The first picture is before (about 1.5 years ago) and the two after are the way it looks now (after dropping protein and actually seeing what my hair likes not just what is popular).

How to best emphasize 2a/b waves with heavy hip length hair
I'm hoping for some tips with emphasizing my waves without a stringy, greasy appearance. It seems everything I try just doesn't work well and it feels like I'm wasting money on products at this point. The first picture is my hair after washing (Nexxus Humectress shampoo and conditioner), air dried and finger combed. The 2nd picture is after sectioning my hair into 4, application of max hold Eco brand styling gel (hand applied, brushed through with each brushed area lightly shaken *if that makes sense), then carefully plopped in a thin t and air dried ~70%, and scrunching through with argan oil after allowing to air dry. Honestly I like my waves better just air drying but my hair is so much frizzier this way; with product it's less frizzy and the tops of my hair will hold a little wave, but it looks more stringy and feels gunky/not soft to me (I have to touch my hair a lot, moving it out of the way so I don't sit on it or buckle it into my seat belt, etc). I feel like less product is gping to be better to not weigh my hair down. Should I try a mousse instead? Lightweight curl cream? I appreciate the help!
