The Illinois Black History Museum extends warm wishes to you and your family for a joyful and meaningful Kwanzaa. This special time invites us to pause, reflect, and celebrate our rich African American heritage, culture, and traditions while strengthening the bonds that unite us as a community.
At the heart of Kwanzaa are the Nguzo Saba, the Seven Principles that guide us in building strong families and thriving communities: Umoja (Unity), Kujichagulia (Self-Determination), Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility), Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics), Nia (Purpose), Kuumba (Creativity), and Imani (Faith). These principles remind us of the power of working together, honoring our purpose, and remaining rooted in faith and cultural pride.
The Illinois Black History Museum held its annual Kwanzaa Celebration and Awards Ceremony.
Happy Kwanzaa!
