Positive thinking will let you do everything better than negative thinking will." Zig Ziglar
This morning's meditation was about how much more running is mental than it is physical. When your mind is free and focused on thoughts that build you up, your body responds accordingly. When your mind is occupied and focused on things that have and will break you down, your body responds accordingly.

Mind Over Matter for Runners Your mind controls a large part of your running experience, from motivation to pacing strategy to handling pre-race jitters and pain.

I really didn't want to get up for this and that was my why. Days like these, I take baby steps.
Don't look too far ahead. Just one step at a time until you can mentally take on more. Stand in each step, each moment fully present. Move forward. Repeat until you've accomplished what you say it to do.
"It always seems impossible until it's done." Nelson Mandela
Reflecting on difficulty, adversity, struggle, challenges and teamwork in running and life...
To the people who continuously show and put in the work in the midst of adversity and challenges, as a runner and other roles you play in life, never complaining, without uttering one word of uncertainty, doubt or disbelief while in the middle of doing what could be considered impossible...
Keep lacing up!

Late run.
No watch.
Apps didn't kick in.
No record and some days that's fine. I ran to the beat of my own drum with my mind and body in sync with my soles.
In the dark, on Chicago Lakeshore, I turned around at about one and a half miles in. Although I felt great, and wanted to run further, I chose to do less and harness the energy (mental and physical), saving it for another day.
Sometimes the road less traveled is not traveled for a reason.

Cold weather running can be a test of the spirit. I find a little bit goes a long way.
Whether it's a cold weather marathon training run, or something else you find to be challenging. Start small. Just begin. Get started. Get in motion. Then build from there.
Remember this, You are stronger than you think you are.

This morning jump rope skip routine could not stand up to the Muhammad Ali skip and criss cross at cadence of 200 bpm. Just when I found a rhythm.
Running is not just about running. Lift and Stretch. Your body and your mind.

Whatever you do, don't forget to stretch.
Be flexible in life and in running!

What a day!!!! I most certainly didn't want to go out for this run, but I did and it's done. Today, I experienced some moments of negativity and stamped it with DENIED. The only negative I'm accepting today are negative splits.

Well, another marathon done! All praise is due to God!
I put some more miles on these legs today. It's been six years since I've run such a race. Let's see, I don't know exactly how many marathons it's been, but definitely over ten. I told the pacer over 20, but I lumped in the half marathons and I refuse to take one step downstairs to confirm. :-)
It's started out warm and ended up hot. I was out there with the best of the best, today and I can say I did my best. Between Mile 16 and 17, my right IT band decided to tighten up. With just under 10 miles to go, I had to adapt and reassess. Easy decision - Operation...FINISH. Goal was a wash, so just make it to the finish line still able to breathe, walk on my own, smile and speak coherently. Two out of four not to bad. With my IT band showing out, I Walked/Ran, and I made it to the finish.
It was a rough day. There were some people laid out on the course needing medical help. Tough to witness, but thankfully they received the attention needed. Praying for their full recovery.
Great job LaShaun James and Molly Mbuthia !!!!!! We did the darn thing out there today!
