Excited to be partnering with a few local organizations to support residents composting pumpkins across the city! Check out the details below and compost your pumpkins after Halloween with Block Bins:

Sunday November 2nd, 10 am - 4 pm at Commercial Club Park with Chicago Conservation Corps Commercial Park Advisory Council & East Village Association (West Town, Chicago)
Saturday November 8th, 9:30 am - 12:30 pm at Carl Von Linne Elementary School
Saturday November 8th, 10 am - 2 pm at Lakeview High School with Alderman Matt Martin - 47th Ward

Fall Nature Fest is back! On Saturday, September 13th from 12-3pm, join us at LaBagh Woods with over 60 other environmental organizations from Chicago for this free event. There will also be animals from the Brookfield Zoo, activities for families, food trucks, the Jesse White Tumblers, a DJ, giveaways, and much more!

This Earth Day, we’re excited to host our first-ever BYOB (Bring Your Own Bucket) Compost Giveback—a free event to share finished compost with the people who made it possible: our community. 🌱

WHAT TO BRING: Any container to scoop and take home compost. 🪣

This is something we’ve been looking forward to doing for a long time. As a thank-you for being part of this community—from sorting your scraps to showing up week after week—we’re giving back some of the finished compost you helped create.

It’s free, it’s for you, and it’s a reflection of what we care about most: keeping food out of landfills, building a more sustainable city, and strengthening the community that makes all of it possible.

Block Bins will be at the Pumpkin Composting Event next Saturday to help turn your post-Halloween pumpkins into compost, keeping them out of the landfill and doing some good for the planet. 🌎

Pumpkins are great for composting, and by diverting them from landfills, you’re helping reduce waste and enrich the soil for a healthier community.
