Chicago is home to a truly iconic skyline, which is especially striking at sunset. Where do you like to go to take in the skyline’s beauty?

I love the Chicago skyline. All of the geometry, lines and perspective against the seemingly never ending lake is so beautiful. This view never gets old!

I don’t usually shoot in black and white, but I made some exceptions lately. Catch a peek at city life in Chicago with the “L” train.

I was downtown the other day and decided to take some city photos. I saw this reflection in one of the skyscrapers and loved how it looked like a broken up portrait of downtown Chicago!

The American Goldfinch is such a pretty color among the greens in the trees I particularly love this photo because of the dramatic shadow from its beak that is going down its body. What’s your favorite type of bird?

Some weeks ago, I was capturing photos of birds in Chicago when fog rolled in over Lake Michigan, and I snapped this sailboat gliding through the water. I really enjoy photographing sailboats. And I love how this photo features a seagull flying right above the sailboat.

Before heading to dinner one evening, I caught sight of a pair of bald eagles, likely mates, alternately trying to catch fish in the lake. It was incredible to see. They got surprisingly close, allowing me to capture some fantastic shots. I will be sharing more photos of this encounter in the days to come!

I believe this is the amania muscaria mushroom (which is poisonous), so I didn’t touch it or anything. The way the pine needles were arranged around it and the sunlight was shining was too beautiful not to photograph! It feels like there should be fairies living there.

Ever see a common loon take off? A loon needs a long “runway” of water to take off, typically requiring at least 30 yards and sometimes up to a quarter of a mile, depending on the wind. They achieve this by flapping their wings and running across the surface of the water to gain enough speed for lift-off. It’s quite fun to witness!

I captured this while a little bit of rain was rolling in. The angles of the clouds and the rays of sunlight shining through ere breathtaking. I’m glad I brought my camera out on the jet ski for this!

This adolescent bald eagle is a beautiful bird. I had a lot of fun watching and photographing its movements. I don’t think it can fly yet but I think it is getting close.
