Nearly 12 years ago, I created “See Through the Bravado.”

This month the piece found its way into the permanent collection of the University of Chicago, a full-circle moment for a work that has been patiently waiting for the right home.

Grateful to Shari of for placing the piece and believing in the work, and me.

This is my largest sale to date, and a meaningful milestone in my journey as an artist. Institutional acquisitions always feel special — not just because of where the work lives, but because they mark a moment of growth in an artist’s career.

A reminder that artworks have their own timeline.
And that the seeds we plant years ago keep unfolding.

Zhou B opening reception is tonight and yes… that was me yesterday still painting on the wall like “ma’am, the show is literally tomorrow.”

Woke up before the sun because my brain said “add one more thing” (artists know that voice too well). I got sick this week, fell behind, and had a full meltdown questioning every life choice that led me to paint for a living instead of doing something sensible like spreadsheets. My son hugged me mid-spiral and said “it’s ok mom,” which somehow rebooted my whole system.

Huge love to Vanessa and Amanda for letting me sneak back in yesterday to finish the last touches. I owe y’all snacks or incense or both. Shout out to Candace for being the powerhouse artist/curator that she is.

Anyway… she’s finished, I’m alive, and the show opens tonight. Come see what delirious commitment to a vision looks like. ✨😂
