My assistant, Thelma and I are adding a larger base to the customized @fishinatutu figure for a bit more stability, and to set it in a bit of an environment. For your viewing pleasure, I’d like to present my finished, custom @fishinatutu Openminded figure. I received the base figure at @collectedcon this past summer and have been tinkering on it ever since, and as yesterday was a difficult day, I decided to distract myself with finishing touches on this. . I may add a wider base onto this later, as with all the adjustable branches, it can be finicky to balance, but for now it’s done. . #arttoy #customtoy #customfigure #fishinatutu #openminded

I have to clean up my workspace in order to take care of a couple small projects, which means I have to put aside what I’ve done with @fishinatutu ‘s Open Minded figure for a bit. Luckily, I had this nice box to put the small bits and pieces in. I found this box at the thrift store filled with various wooden shapes, which I sorted into my parts drawers. There’s something nice about seeing these parts in progress sorted in this box. . I’ve also included some reference photos I took, so I remember how the various branches are put together. They were kind of interesting as images on their own, so I’m sharing them with you.

I wanted to share some video of some work in progress. I’m working on customizing one of @fishinatutu ‘s “Open Minded” figures that I got this past summer at @collectedcon . . My thought was to have a plethora of objects flying out fountain-like from the character’s basin-like head. I’ve found that the best way to do something like this is to thread the objects onto a supporting element, in this case a bamboo skewer. It’s a good way to create “impossible” stacks of objects and to play around with the order of pieces. . Once I’m happy with the balance of things, I’ll document how everything fits together, and then start painting and decorating the bits. . #openminded #openmindedfigure #customfigure #arttoy #designertoy #workinprogress

Loss of a parent is cause for pause.
Became a part of a tribe that if life is”normal” we all join. Praying for others who have endured the loss, and others who are also just joining.
Learning to just breathe, sit, and remember the good.

Openminded…celebrating color

Openminded is a reminder to me to breathe, to listen to other people’s ideas and choices, to learn and understand where people come from and why with their beliefs

My goal and hope is that I can listen more and understand others and their choices and their walks. To be Openminded to others opinions and choices that I can learn compromise and compassion.
To meet in the middle.
