Anyone with a period knows products are costly, with a box of tampons or pads costing around $5 to $10. Even in public restrooms, a pad or tampon, which can be used for around 8 hours at most, will set you back at least 25 cents. Over the course of a week-long cycle, that money adds up — and fast. Many homeless women say the cost is unmanageable, often using ripped pieces of cloth or toilet paper instead of sanitary napkins or tampons, risking infection.

Today, we launch our Purse Red Drive! We are collecting 222 purses and filling them with feminine hygiene products and PPE for homeless women in and around Chicago. There are many ways to donate:
1. We all have a medium-sized purse that we keep in our closet hoping to pull it out one day. Now, it is the time to pull it out and drop off at The Civic Station 1865 E. 71st St Chicago, IL 60649.
2. Don’t have a purse – purchase/order feminine hygiene products and PPE via Amazon Smile: https://smile.amazon.com/ch/84-4510298
3. Make a tax-deductible donation to Do Nation via dogiveserve.org/donate.

There are many ways to do. Just do something.
