I wanted to share something very important to me and kindly ask for your support. Our family is working hard to build a small educational and creative business here in Cheyenne. We offer ballroom dance classes, accordion lessons, language classes (English, Spanish, Russian, German), and creative activities for children and adults.

This project means so much to us. It’s not just about classes — it’s about creating a positive space where people can grow, feel confident, express themselves, and connect with others.

If you have a moment, I would truly appreciate it if you could share my post on your page or other social media. These oars with mermaids painted on them - one on each side - each oars has 2 mermaids. They would be a unique Xmas present for someone, & you would be supporting an unknown, local artist. The mermaid that is brown & orange on one side, purples on the other, is 72 in long. The oar that's blue & greens on one side, the other is the mermaid lying on the bottom of the ocean floor, is 52 in long. Each or $100, 2 mermaids for the price of one! “You’ve changed,”
my sometimes-lover declared.
“You bet your ass, I’ve changed,”
I answered him.
Today
I am not the same
woman that he
met 8 years ago.
I used to be a follower,
indoctrinated by the media,
education system,
religious systems - a woman who
tried to do the “right” things,
as defined by society (mostly
white men in business suits).
Thankfully,
I HAVE changed.

I used to loathe myself,
tolerated abuse, wasted time
on people who did not value
or validate me.
I tried to mold myself into
other’s ideals;
I worried about admission
into heaven,
my children’s salvation,
speaking in tongues,
earning my family’s appreciation,
whether the church people
approved of me,
and if one day
God would send me
“Mr. Right?”
My, how drastically
I HAVE changed.

Today I do what is best
for me. I do not seek
approval or permission
from anyone.
I know myself well; I like this woman.
I enjoy my own company.
I am comfortable
in my own skin.
I
follow
no
one.
My own beliefs, opinions,
& feelings
about ME, are the only
ones that matter
because
I HAVE changed.

A few years ago,
I carelessly
& frequently
surrendered the power
to destroy me
to different people.
Inadvertently,
my sometimes-lover’s rejection
helped me grow…
stronger.

Each ghosting
toughened my tenderness,
whittled my weaknesses.

Incredibly, I recall
a pathetic, distraught woman
sobbing uncontrollably,
who felt lost, rejected
& alone.

She clutched a broken heart
which seemed to throb with
a physical, spiking pain.
In that state of anguish,
I wept uncontrollably,
messily
(me, who’s famous
for rarely crying).

I have decided
I am happy, alone,
or not.
With
or without
him whom I love,
life is beautiful &
I am content, fulfilled, whole.

I still love that man,
have not once wavered.
He is
the love of my life;
my muse,
my change-agent,
my twin flame;
however,
the two of us
were never destined
to play house.
Even he recognizes how
I HAVE changed.

Today, no one
has the ability
to destroy me.
No one’s opinion about me
matters;
what others say about me,
or think about me,
is none of my business.

I have explored
every dark passage
of my mind
(quarantines are beneficial).
I inventoried
my home, garage, &
everything I own.
Then, I inventoried
my goals, dreams,
aspirations for the future,
I noted
my character defects,
flaws, fallacies.
I scrutinized
my friendships, my motives, &
the condition of my heart
& soul -
all the while, changing.

I discovered
some people’s energies
do not match well
with mine
& I put some distance between us.
Those deemed toxic
were eliminated,
deleted from my circle.
Others simply fell away,
eliminating themselves.

I’m writing my autobiography,
determined to leave
a tangible, personal legacy
for my descendants.
I hope my own children,
grandchildren, or future kin
will read
the stages of transformation
to the new me.
Perhaps
the changes I make
will inspire them
to make their own changes -
a satisfying inheritance,
worth the suffering,
causing me to have
no regrets..
I vow to keep changing -
because my greatest
achievement is
I HAVE changed.
