β³π This year, Pretty Purposed launched a new initiative empowering sites to take the lead in planning their own field trips with guidance and support from their Program Directors. π Two sites eagerly answered the call: Pleasants Lane Elementary in Petersburg took their girls to Topgolf in Richmond for a day of fun, teamwork, and friendly competition, and Sunnyside Elementary School in Dinwiddie put their problem solving skills to the test at Escape Old Towne in Petersburg for an exciting escape room experience! ππΎββοΈβ¨π
The success of this pilot means working toward broader implementation next school year, strengthening our ability to streamline and increase capacity for programming.

ππΎπ As we reflect on our year, we are beyond grateful for all of the organizations that have invested in our work and believed in our mission! πβ¨ This year, Pretty Purposed was the proud recipient of the Hotties Helping Hotties Grant, an initiative of Megan Thee Stallion's Pete and Thomas Foundation, and we are so honored. ππ Pretty Purposed was able to use the funds to supply and stock our brand new, girl-centered space because our girls deserve a space that is fully equipped and built just for them. π πͺπΎ The Pete & Thomas Foundation is committed to supporting great nonprofit organizations, and through this initiative awarded grants to 30 nonprofits making a positive impact in their communities across the pillars of Education, Health and Wellness, Housing, and Community Goodwill.
Established in honor of her father, Joseph Pete Jr., and her mother, Holly Thomas, Megan Thee Stallion created the Pete & Thomas Foundation to uplift women, children, senior citizens, and underserved communities in Houston and across the globe, and we are proud to be a part of that legacy! ππ₯

π Dinwiddie Elementary Pretty Purposed participants proudly completed their advocacy projects by supporting their district's Special Olympics Feet Meet on Monday, April 13, 2026! ππ In alignment with their mission to uplift individuals with disabilities, participants thoughtfully created and packaged motivational goodie bags for over 60 Dinwiddie Elementary Feet Meet athletes. πβ¨ They not only distributed the bags with care and encouragement, but also enthusiastically cheered on each participant throughout the day's events, helping to create an atmosphere of inclusion, celebration, and support. π£ππΎ This meaningful experience reflected the heart of their Pretty Purposed advocacy project and left a lasting impact on both the participants and the broader school community.

π«π This past weekend, over 70 Pretty Purposed participants, facilitators, board members, staff, and an incredible intern gathered at the elegant Hotel Petersburg, Tapestry Collection by Hilton for our Annual End of the Year Tea Party and it was a perfect celebration! πβ¨ Girls came dressed to impress, filling the room with beauty, joy, and the kind of energy that happens when you bring together a community of young women who have spent a whole year growing, showing up, and pouring into one another. ππΈ
From the laughter to the conversations to the memories made, this was the perfect way to close out an incredible year and remind our girls just how far they have come. To every girl, facilitator, board member, staff member, and intern who was in that room, thank you for being the heart of Pretty Purposed and for making this year one for the books! πͺπΎπ

πβ¨ Pretty Purposed girls headed to the iconic Altria Theater last month to experience the magic of The Wiz live on stage! It was a powerful, soulful, and stunning celebration of Black artistry and storytelling. π π After the show, the girls and chaperones fueled up together at VCU Dining Services for some good food and good reflective conversation π½οΈππΎ
Moments like these remind us why we do what we do. Girls deserve access to culture, art, and experiences that reflect and celebrate who they are. πΆ

ππ April was Volunteer Appreciation Month and we took the opportunity to celebrate our amazing volunteers. On April 15th, we hosted a Volunteer Appreciation and Open House event at our brand new Pretty Purposed space, welcoming current, former, and prospective volunteers for an evening of charcuterie, dessert, great conversation, and so much gratitude! π§π°β¨ Our incredible volunteers were presented with certificates of appreciation, because the work they pour into our girls and our mission deserves to be recognized and celebrated. π
Because of YOU, Pretty Purposed is able to show up for girls and young women across our region every single day and we do not take that for granted! πͺπΎπ
If you have been curious about getting involved, there is no better time than now because our girls need your time, your talent, and your heart! π Visit https://www.prettypurposed.org/ppvolunteer to learn more about volunteer opportunities and join our growing community of change makers.
