IMPORTANT POST... a lot of city animal controls do not operate late in evenings once the fireworks begin and linger through the evening.

Please add your name and city (neighborhood below) if you can safely contain a pet this evening if animal control is not available.

We make a list every year and people volunteer but then become unreachable when needed.

1) please leave your pets home if you plan to attend firework exhibits

2) if you are shooting them off from your house or neighborhood, please leave your pets inside. The saying gets old that your pet will do fine, every year thats what people say when their pets go missing or get fatally injured from being scared to death.

This is the one of the worst nights the er vets will face, if your dog has a bleeding toenail or a non emergent situation, please leave the ER Vets available for the large # of animals that will be coming in for crisis and hit by cars and people bringing in deceased pets due to fireworks.

More pets are lost on the Fourth of July than on any other day of the year. The Fourth of July might be an all-day party for people, but for pets, it’s a different story. Booming fireworks and busy BBQs can get your furry family member pretty anxious. Pet emergency services see a huge spike during the holiday weekend, with tons of pet parents spending the holiday in the ER or frantically searching for a runaway pet who bolted in a panic.

Here are a few tips to help you make the 4th of July more pet-friendly and prevent pet-related emergencies:

Update your pet’s ID tag and microchip info

Share rules with guests (e.g., no burger bites)

Store human foods out of sight and reach

Keep your pet cool and hydrated all day

Be aware of toxins such as sparklers, sun screen, and lighter fluid

Make a “calming kit” with toys, treats, and tools

Find them a quiet retreat from the craziness

Play music or turn on the TV to mask outside noise

Don’t set off your own fireworks around pets

Stay with anxious pets during fireworks shows

Meet Dream! This sweet pup's owners had to move, and she has suddenly found herself looking for a new home. Dream is an actual dream on a leash. She walks well and likes to stick close by. Dream knows and follows commands for 'sit', 'come', and 'down'. She enjoys treats and accepts them gently. Dream is a playful pup who enjoys toys but may not always want to share. She is house and crate-trained and does well when living with other dogs. Dream has also lived with children of all ages and been great with all of them. She is a loving and affectionate beauty!

Southern States Rescued Rottweilers is running their very successful annual Limited Edition T-Shirt fundraiser.

Purchase a 2025 SSRR Limited Edition T-shirt and help their Rottweilers in Need. SSRR continues to grow year after year and has been fortunate enough to be able to save more Rottweilers. They couldn't do that without the generous support of their donors. They currently have a 2 year old male that needs to have his left hip replaced. Proceeds from this fundraiser will go to Leo's medical expenses.

By purchasing a limited edition T-shirt you will help them with Leo’s medical expenses. Leo is their 2-year-old male Rottweiler who they recently found out needs his left hip replaced. Leo’s left socket is flat which is causing friction that has started to create bone spurs and arthritic spots. This has caused a lot of pain for poor Leo.
