We wish good luck to Chad Seeman and his family who purchased the Kat-e-Korner. He and his folks plan to fix it up and open as an ice cream shop, honoring one of their family members and the history of the place by renaming it "Katie's Corner.". It's going to take a lot of work, but they hope to open this fall. The Kat-e-Korner had been in open for 56 years, as a restaurant from 1965 to 1988, then as a doll and craft shop until last fall. They served a lot of burgers, ice cream, pies, and breakfasts, and really valued their community.
When your parents own a restaurant, every day is "take your kid to work day." I grew up in that place, cleaning, washing dishes, bussing tables, beventually waiting tables, and cooking sometimes, too My mom said I could either go to college or run the restaurant - that was my motivation to stay in school.
After they closed the restaurant, my dad poured the porcelain for the dolls my mom made, and they also sold a lot of Beanie Babies and then Indian art. My dad really loved to talk to people who came in, and after retirement it gave my mom a reason to stay active and a place to chat with family and friends.
So many people have fond memories of eating or working there. We look forward to seeing it fixed up and seeing ice cream again.

We just got in these great flint blades made by a Cheyenne-Arapaho craftsman. They're large and well made - at a very reasonable price of $29.95 each. Stop in and check out our American Indian art.

I could use a cheeseburger and a chocolate shake today. How about you? I've had this sign in my garage for years. Note how the prices had been changed when they went up to a whopping 40 cents for a burger and a dime for a cone. I remember signs like these on the building and on the roof, but this one might be before my time.

We have a new shipment of Native American Indian art, jewelry, pottery, and drums. Lots of modern and antique pieces at very reasonable prices! We have silver and turquoise jewelry, sandpaintings, kachinas, arrowheads, and dreamcatchers. Lots of other Southwest pieces, too. Some new featured items include a Cherokee flint knife with antler handle, antique Santa Clara Pueblo wedding vase, and a beautiful carved small cedar totem pole from the Pacific Northwest.
