BOOM Powered By RISE

Today, we gather to celebrate a life well lived and a legacy that will continue to RISE.

Join us online beginning at 4 PM EST as we celebrate and remember the life of our beloved Shane Reynald Morrow.

Sunday, September 20, we will gather to celebrate the life and legacy of our beloved founder and visionary, Shane Morrow.

We also want to acknowledge that Shane’s Celebration of Life takes place at the same time as RISE Chattanooga’s Levitt BLOC Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration at East Lake Park. We know many in our community would want to be present for both, and unfortunately, the timing does not allow for that.

As difficult as that is, we also know Shane believed deeply in the work continuing. Creating opportunities for artists, celebrating culture, building community and making space for people to be seen and heard were at the heart of what he built.

So while some of our RISE family will gather to celebrate Shane’s life and legacy, others will be at East Lake Park carrying forward work that meant so much to him.

Both spaces will carry a piece of Shane with them.

We remain deeply grateful for the love, grace and care you continue to show Shane’s family and the RISE Chattanooga community as we navigate this loss and honor the extraordinary legacy he leaves behind.

Please see the flyer for details on Shane’s Celebration of Life.

Join us tomorrow at 7 PM for a special broadcast for Shane Morrow.

In this one-hour special, Ray Bassett of WUTC's Scenic Roots honors the life and legacy of Shane Morrow - the founder and executive director of RISE Chattanooga, the local Black arts and culture nonprofit in this city - with an audio scrapbook of Shane's own words on this station.
Listen on-air at 88.1 FM, online at WUTC.org, or on the WUTC App.

Thank you to everyone that came out to join us for Levitt BLOC Chattanooga Music Series! Though it felt different being there without our Shane Morrow, we could feel his love and spirit with us! We know he would be proud!

Thank you to all of the vendors, all of the community members & partners, RISE Chattanooga board members & staff and headliner Kimmie J Soul & Band!

This event proved it takes a village and we are grateful that all of you are a part of ours!

Stay tuned for the next date for the 2026 Levitt BLOC Music Series!
