Are you a UVA Law student interested in international law? Apply to become an International Law Fellow for the International Court of Justice Judicial Fellows Program at the Hague, Netherlands.
The fellowship provides a stipend of $40,000 to assist with travel, living expenses and health insurance and begins in early September 2021 and runs to June/July 2022.
The fellows program provides a unique opportunity to participate in the work of the ICJ, which is the principal judicial organ of the United Nations. The court decides legal disputes submitted to it by states and provides advisory opinions on legal questions referred to it by the U.N. or its specialized agencies.
Application is due February 5th.

Prof. Camilo Sanchez, the director of UVA Law Human Rights Program co-outline how to monitor human rights law during the pandemic with Aaron Acosta and Alejandro Jimenez. They write, "special attention should be given to the analysis of countries, which before the crisis were experiencing a constant deterioration of democratic guarantees and whose governments have used the crisis to deepen these processes" More below!

The Human Rights Clinic is an integral part of the law school human rights curricula, where student immerse in a yearlong learning to gain first-hand experience in human rights advocacy. Student work in partnership with nongovernmental organizations, human rights practitioners and law firms in the United States and abroad.
Clinic Students Help Shape UN Guidance in Science, Human Rights Students in a University of Virginia School of Law clinic have helped shape new U.N. guidance on the relationship between advances in science and human rights.
