Good Friday evening, friends!

"Hello Morgan,
My name is Melissa Lang and I am President of a rescue in the Lake Norman area (Denver, NC) called Angels to the Animals.
I need some help and have no idea if or how you might be able to assist but knowing you are a dog lover and animal advocate, I figured I could at least send you an email.
We have had a dog (named Christine) in our rescue 2 yrs now. We have been unable to find her a home. She has several strikes against her.... #1 she is pittie, #2 she needs to be the only pet and no young children and #3 she is deaf. She is only 3 yrs old and a sweet girl once she gets to know you. We didn't know she was deaf until we put her into a 4 week board and train program and that is when it was discovered.
After that program we have consistently tried to find a home for her with no luck. We can't even find a foster for her. She did go to live with her trainer after her training program for quite some time but we continued to pay him for boarding her and then when he was moving and could no longer help, she went to live with somebody else from the training facility but again, she also required that we pay her for boarding.
We have put a lot of money into her training and boarding in the 2 years we've had her and our rescue can no longer afford it and not only that but the person who has been boarding her informed us last weekend that we have (1 week) to find her a new home because she had a life-changing situation occur and she can no longer keep her after that.
We have desperately been trying to find someplace for her since then with no luck.
Yours in the love of animals,
Melissa Lang"
Here is more info about Christine the deaf pitty:
"Christine is the bomb!!! She is not only beautiful, but she is also smart, loving and a lot of fun!
Christine may be deaf, but don't let that scare you. She has been through extensive training, and will come with some sign language training, if you are local. We've got you covered!
Christine is loveable but it may take a little while for her to warm up. After that, she is a faithful and loyal girl. Older kids (teens+) best due to her size. Christine does not care for the feline species, so no cats for her and would do best as the only dog. She loves playing with toys, chew bones and ropes toys, and one of her favorite activities is chilling on your lap for petting. She's a dream.
The ideal family would have a large fenced area or lots of room for her outside, one or two adults to herself with the willingness to attend some training for interacting with her and no other pets. Someone active to get her out for a hike would be super. We realize this is a large list of special needs but we can promise you that she is well worth it and we know there has to be someone out there that is looking for someone just like her to complete their life!
Please, please help Christine by either fostering or adopting her. She is only 3 years old.
Age: 3 Years
Gender: Female
Size: Large
Color: White
Breed: Pit Bull Terrier"

My co-anchor Gary is fostering this big beautiful girl! She is looking for her forever home; please share!
Hey everyone,
A Cornelius Police officer was suspended for how he handled a call for service from a woman who opened a random car door in a parking lot after seeing a dog inside. She feared the dog was overheating and needed water.
It was about 90 degrees that day.
She and the officer went back and forth a bit, and she recorded their interaction. Link below to the video!

"Hi Morgan,
I’m reaching out with a story that’s both timely and deeply meaningful - one that speaks to the heart of why May is Mental Health Awareness Month and why it matters, and also how we can make a life-changing difference for those who’ve sacrificed so much: our veterans and first responders.
Just a few weeks ago, a 3-year-old German Shepherd named Hans sat on the euthanasia list at an overcrowded rural shelter in South Carolina. His story could have ended there - but instead, it’s just beginning. Thanks to Stephanie's Shepherds Rescue, Rehab and Training, 501C3, he was given a second chance and brought to a foster home in Gastonia, North Carolina while awaiting transport to the rescue’s base in New York.
That foster home is mine. I’m Amanda, and from the moment that Hans arrived, something in me said this wasn’t just another foster. Hans had a quiet strength, a presence that felt like purpose. I couldn’t ignore the feeling that he was meant for something more.
I shared his photo with Matt, a trainer at K9 Responder Academy, a first responder veteran-founded organization in Charlotte, NC. Their mission is extraordinary: training dogs - often rescued themselves - to become service and therapy animals for veterans and first responders living with PTSD and trauma.
Matt, a military veteran, knows that kind of pain all too well. After silently battling undiagnosed PTSD for 15 years, he came dangerously close to giving up - just three years ago. It was a service dog from this very program that helped him find a reason to stay. He carries that moment with him always, marked permanently by a tattoo that reminds him why he chose to keep going. And now, he’s made it his life’s work to help others do the same.
When Matt met Hans, he saw the same spark I did. So did the entire K9 Responder Academy team - made up of fellow veterans and former first responders, each partnered with their own service dogs. They saw something extraordinary in Hans.
After evaluating him, they confirmed what I had only hoped: Hans is a perfect candidate to become a service dog - a lifeline for a veteran who’s still fighting a silent war inside.
The Academy recently launched the K9 Responder Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to training shelter dogs to become life-saving service companions for first responders and veterans living with PTSD and trauma. They are also training and donating therapy dogs for police and fire departments around North Carolina, especially Western North Carolina.
This month, the Foundation opened applications for first responders and veterans to apply for a service dog - but only for a limited time (30 days). Meanwhile, Hans is waiting to start his training. The only thing standing in the way? The $6,000 needed to fund his full service-dog training.
We would love your help sharing this powerful story - not just to raise the remaining funds, but to raise awareness about the life-saving role service dogs play in mental health, and the veterans and first responders who are still fighting silent battles every day."
OF COURSE I want to help sharing this story!
I am putting the GoFundMe link to support Hans' training in the comments.
If you can donate, THANK YOU. If you can share this story, THANK YOU!

I hope you're all preparing to enjoy a lovely holiday weekend with your loved ones.
As summer approaches, many families may be considering adding a pet to their home (no school / slower schedule = more time to bond and acclimate a new pet).
Please consider adoption!
And may I introduce you to Tofu, while you're here

"Good morning, I am reaching out in hopes of finding a cat rescue for four kittens that were born on April 7th to a neighborhood cat,
My children and I have taken care of mama and babies for as long as we can. We are getting ready to move at the end of the month and won’t be able to take them with us. My own male cat doesn’t like the kittens and I don’t have the space for them.
If someone could please reach out it would be greatly appreciated!"
If you are a local rescue who can help, or if you're interested in adopting a kitten, please contact the woman who sent me the email. I will tag her in the comments!

Hi friends,
I saw this story on Will Stenberg's page and he gave me permission to share this here with you.
"Peyo was once a dressage horse, although his difficult, temperamental personality was sometimes a struggle for his owner, Hassen Bouchakour. However, Peyo had another, mysterious side: often, after events, he would seek out a stranger in the crowd, showering them with quiet affection or guarding them - and this person would always turn out to be sick, often with cancer.
This happened often enough that Hassen had Peyo's gifts reviewed by the nearby medical community in Calais, France, and in time Peyo became certified to offer palliative care to patients in terminal wards, primarily at Calais Hospital, where Peyo is essentially on staff.
This requires a two hour process of sterilization and cleaning, which Peyo tolerates patiently, just as he has learned to signal his need to go outside for bathroom breaks. Otherwise, Hassen has learned to completely let go of control of the horse whose movements he once carefully dictated.
When Peyo wants to spend time with someone, he raises his leg by the door, and once inside, will stay for hours. Remarkably, doctors and patients together have found that regular visits from Peyo can reduce the need for heavy pain-killing drugs, allowing for a more lucid departure - departures for which Peyo has been present more than one thousand times.
Hassen has said, “It was very complicated to no longer be the master, and to be forced to admit that ... I am no longer in control. When he decides, I cannot hold him back, it’s a need, it’s visceral, it is in him, he needs to go, and cling on to the specific person he has chosen.”
Peyo's abilities are significant and repeatable enough that scientists have taken an interest, with no concrete answers. The hospital staff has taken to referring to him affectionately as "Doctor Peyo," an appellation which, it seems to me, is nothing short of true.
While most online articles about Peyo date from 2021, an Instagram page shows that he is still working today."

🚨BREAKING🚨
Arrest made in opossum torture case.
Meet Cameron Torrence:

It is outrageous that kids stole Jayla’s French bulldog Julio out of her car in Charlotte NC. That’s Jayla and Julio in the pic on this post.
It is outrageous that when these kids showed up at their house(s) w a dog, apparently no adult questioned it.
It is outrageous that these kids have been CHARGED in connection to the case but police cannot find the dog because the kids are evidently passing it back and forth between houses to hide it.
But maybe what’s *most* outrageous is that no adult - none, not a one - with these kids is forcing them to return the dog to Jayla.
If I did this when I was a kid (and I would have never), my parents would have gone absolutely nuts on me.
What are these adults thinking? This story about Jayla’s search for Julio has been all over the news, all over social media… they know about it. Their kids are charged in connection to the theft of the dog.
PARENTS: GET CONTROL OF YOUR KIDS. FORCE THEM TO REVEAL JULIO AND THEN DRIVE THEM TO THE POLICE STATION.
It’s super simple.
Let’s make them feel the pressure. Please share share share.

PS: Pics and video in the comments that the kids who stole the dog have sent to Jayla - to taunt her. She turned these over to police immediately.
