Glorious, beautiful, delicious chickweed!! Do you love this spring foraging friend? My favorite time to collect chickweed is the first of spring as the first bunches of it grow super lush and bountiful! Once the weather warms up, chickweed will for sure continue to grow (as all gardeners know 🙄😂) but it’s more spindly and less yummy with the warmer temps. Like most spring wild edibles, chickweed is a wonderfully cleansing green with a nice bitter bite - similar to a mild arugula. One of nature’s gifts to help move us out of the winter sludge 🌿💗 I love it in a spring salad! Medicinally, it’s also a great skin healer and is an ingredient in our Balm Diggity!
