Welcome to another year with The Seahawk! Our book club returns to lessen the stress of a new semester with a compelling September read. Our selection for this month is “Beautiful World, Where Are You” by beloved Irish author Sally Rooney.

The 94th Academy Awards ceremony, airing on March 27, 2022, hosts a wide variety of films from the past year, such as the larger-than-life sci-fi epic “Dune,” the passionate sports biopic “King Richard” and a visionary Shakespeare reimagining in “The Tragedy of Macbeth.”

On the weekend of March 25-27, the Black Arts Alliance (BAA) held the 18th annual North Carolina Black Film Festival (NCBFF). With Hurricane Florence in 2018 and the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, this year saw the festival’s in-person return with a great turnout.

UNCW plans to present ‘The Moors,’ a tribute to the Brontë sisters that adds a touch of comedy to an otherwise dreary situation in 1840s England. The show will take place at the Mainstage Theatre in the Cultural Arts Building from March. 31 to April 3 and April 7 to April 10.

At one point or another in our lives, we have all felt discarded or misunderstood. Such is the case with the “Don’t Say Gay” bill in Florida. This article will discuss why the bill is both harmful to the closeted gay kids in Florida and why it hypocritical to even have such a bill in the first place.

The era of COVID-19 regulations and mask mandates is coming to a close at UNCW along with the terms of UNCW’s current Student Government Associate president and vice president. SGA is holding its annual student body elections now until 3 p.m. today.
