Just for today. I chose to get up when the alarm rang at 4:30am. I drove to Wilmington; my shoes were hitting the pavement before 5:30am. •
Daylight began to creep into the sky as I ran the boardwalk along the Cape Fear River. I thought about how many of you inspired me the last few days w/ super impressive running feats: whether it be how many miles run in 12 or 24 hours, or how fast a track can be circled 4 times in a race. Or for putting down the mileage in the heat of summer•

I want what you have. Even though I already posses it. I draw strength from you, & know at times you draw strength from me. Together, we carry our beloved sport into tomorrows, & the day after that…..•

Today I ran 10 miles. Then met my high school XC team. We ran fartlek loops around the cemetery. I challenged them to race all out for 1 more lap; they did, & the winner even vomited after crossing the finish line. Guts. •

We shared a meal. Like we share the miles. In person, thru social media. For I know you’ll be out there tomorrow, & the day after that…….•

Topped a 65 mile week 🏃🏻‍♂️w/ 13mi in the pea soup (see pic 2). Kept HR under control, pace easy. Then topped the run w/ a yummy 😋 Latin-themed lunch at Savorez in downtown Wilmington (pic 1). Have a blessed weekend my friends ✌🏽•

Many thanks to the for the spotlight shoutout in their newsletter. Jeff & Jeremy have become good friends of mine the past few years, as we share much in common, on & off the trails. •

Spoiler alert- as the newsletter alludes to, there’ll be much more written about in my 3rd book 📚 about these guys, how we met, an epic ultra we ran together, & much more 😀. •

In brief, their love for the sport, and their love for so many of us who run all these crazy-ass ultras all over the place, is such a blessing, & a gift. A grassroots community they’ve nurtured one runner at a time. I’ve met many other ultra-runners in different races & states in large part to this growing tribe. •

I get out of bed & want to run, & want to train for what I previously thought was not possible. And get to see, hear, & read about what you’re training for, what you’re attempting, that’s beyond the boundaries of what you thought possible. It’s truly a WE sport. •

I’ll be running w/ a bunch of you fine humans Sept 17 in the URG’s next race The Final Countdown @ BNP. Come on out-it’ll be a some smashing fun 🤩!!

Please check these guys out & all they have to offer. Happy running 🏃🏽‍♀️ 🏃🏻‍♂️✌🏽•

A week of trails, mountains, endless forests & waterways. Listening deep to nature’s heartbeat; bearing witness to the rhythm of life. The whistle of the wind thru the trees; the playful tune of a babbling brook at 6,000 ft. Meditating on the cabin porch w/ the drone of a hummingbirds wings•

Returning to our roots- Mother Earth. Where time as measured in millenniums; us humans are merely another link in a vast ecosystem, too large& complex to fully comprehend. And being at peace w/ such knowledge•
