Did you know that Banner Elk has a lake with a sandy beach, swimming area and a pier for fishing? There is also a park nearby. Sounds fun!

Evening Rain; Changing to Snow Tonight
Low pressure is moving across the Southeast along a front positioned just to our south. Colder air arrives tonight and Monday setting up a complex changeover from rain to snow. Light rain developed this morning becoming steadier this afternoon and evening. Rain changes to snow late tonight (some freezing rain may mix in at times overnight). Steady snow Monday morning transitions to snow showers in the afternoon, continuing into Monday night. Accumulations are still a very difficult call. 3"-6" is the best idea for total by Tuesday morning; however, snow totals will be "splotchy", elevation dependent, and favor the Blue Ridge (east) over west. See our Snow Forecast Accumulation Map for details. Colder air settles in from the NW Monday night. Another round of snow showers is expected Tuesday night and Wednesday.
