Facebook Will Allow Nicknames When Posting in Groups
The article below discusses how Facebook now lets people post in Groups using a nickname instead of their real name. You can also pick a custom picture for that nickname inside that group.
This is not totally anonymous. Facebook still knows who you are, but other members see your chosen nickname instead of your real profile name.

Instagram launched Instagram for TV.
The article below discusses how reels now play on TVs, starting with Amazon Fire TV, and on more devices coming soon.
People can sit on the couch and watch Reels like a TV channel, not just scroll on their phone.
This means short-form video is now living room content. This definitely changes how content should be created and repurposed.

Instagram is changing hashtags!
Instagram now limits hashtags to just a few per post (about 5 max). This represents a significant shift from the past, when you could use up to 30.
- More hashtags won’t boost your reach like they used to.
- Instagram wants fewer, more relevant tags that describe what your post is about.
- Focus on words your audience would actually search for.
Tip: Pick 3–5 tags that match your topic well — don’t just add random ones.

TikTok is NOT gone in the US — but it’s changing.
The article below discusses how a Major U.S. group (Oracle, Silver Lake, MGX) is taking control of the U.S. version of TikTok so it can continue to operate. Data, moderation and the video feed will now be handled under a new U.S. company. The deal is set to close on January 22, 2026.
For more info: Will the TikTok deal mean the app changes in the US?

Instagram is testing a new app layout!
The article below discusses how reels and DMs are getting bigger spots on the bottom menu.
This means faster scrolling, faster replies, and more focus on video.
This is another sign that shows:
- Reels drive visibility
- DMs drive conversations and sales
If you use Instagram for growth, ensure your videos are clear, and your messages are ready.

Instagram is cutting down hashtags.

Fewer hashtags.
Better captions.
Clear content.
