A lot of businesses believe that having a website or making a video is enough.

You probably know you can throw tons of money at ad campaigns and get poor results.
The problem is often somewhere between the message and the delivery. Youâre having a conversation with the customer, so if your message is off, they wonât be interested. If your delivery is off, they wonât believe it. You donât just need a good-looking website or a glossy ad: you need those things to carry a clear, well thought-out message that speaks exactly to what customers need to hear.â

Weâre sure youâve heard plenty of people just refer to âa videoâ or âa websiteâ in a very general sense. But the reality is that those things are just vehicles for the message. You need to understand your customer and their needs, and speak clearly and coherently to them. Otherwise, itâs⌠just another video.â

One of the biggest things that we see businesses get wrong in their ads is that they make themselves the hero of the story, not the customer.
We get it â youâre excited about your product or service, and everybody else in the world should be just as excited about it. The problem is, itâs tough to avoid focusing on you. Instead, go back to the person you created this for in the first place. What drives them? What problems do they face that they need to overcome? Whatâs the villain in their story, and how can you help them overcome that villain?

Your business doesnât get a second chance for a first impression.â

These tips donât just apply to a salesperson or a video - they apply to the first five seconds a potential customer spends on your website. If your website canât speak to them clearly and tell them within 5 seconds that you solve a problem they have, youâre losing out. â

And hereâs the thing about it: it canât just look good. It has to BE good. That means it has to speak clearly. Itâs not enough for your marketing materials to âlookâ nice, your website to âlookâ professional, or your videos to âlookâ high quality: if the message is not correct, you just blew your first impression.â

And hereâs why: those things are just vehicles for the message. Looks are great, but itâs the message that counts.â
