Oboe reeds are like people, no two are the same.

Most English Horn reeds have a wire at the base of the reed. If it has slipped down, after the reed is wet, nudge the wire back up into position until it is tight again.

If you can, brush your teeth before playing the oboe. That helps the reed and instrument stay cleaner.

Do you have more than one working oboe reed in your reed case? If not, you must be prepared as reeds can break anytime or accidentally be broken when you least expect it.

Do not ever leave your oboe in a hot vehicle. The heat can loosen the key pads causing the instrument not to play properly.
