I was recently texting with one of my oldest friends and wished her a happy wedding anniversary (9 years!) and then also laughed that she trusted me to do her wedding hair back then. I *always* look at my work and think, should have done this, maybe curled it differently, pinned lower, etc…But that’s the kind of friend she is, trusting, loving, kind. She also reminded me that even back then, and before I always loved being a part of this special day for people. It’s how I ended up in this industry. I think baby stylist Rachel would be happy to know that 14 years in I am focused on the things that really ignite my creative energy. 🦄

And seriously, could these wedding pics look any more timeless? I bet you’d never guess they were from 9 years ago.

Happy Thanksgiving, friends!

Yes, I know I’m a day early. I’m moving my thankfulness from stories to feed - first of all, thanks to everyone that participated over the last two weeks. I loved reading your responses, and know that gratitude is something that we must practice for it to become second nature. I strive for that!

Today, I am thankful for a great salon to work in . Truly, Gianna has created such a unique environment in this industry. The stylists are collaborative and everyone brings positivity and creativity to the table. After a busy 2 days in the salon this week, it is refreshing to be surrounded by that energy. Thankful to be a Gallery Gal 🫶🏼🦄

Hello Mamas! Have you ever been itchy during pregnancy? Although that can be common, it can also indicate elevated bile acids, or cholestasis. I want to share with you some of my experience with ICP and the care I received through the non profit Judd’s Legacy. If you are pregnant and itchy, I would consider having a bile acid blood work panel done. Let’s help each other and are unborn babies by raising awareness around ICP and providing resources for those that are diagnosed.
If you have ICP and need someone to talk to, feel free to call, text (864-323-7305) or message me Or reach out to Judd’s Legacy. 💕

During my third trimester I was preparing to wind down at work and get ready for my little boy to arrive. I worked on my feet all day in the salon so I had started using a tall rolling stool when possible because of a little swelling and, charley horse cramps at night. During a particularly busy day, I came home and took off my shoes thinking my feet and calves were a little itchy due to swelling. I mentioned to my husband, Jacob, that the bottoms of my feet were itchy and it made me think about Allison and Judd. I debated out loud about the possibility of having ICP symptoms or not, halfway trying to convince myself I was starting to become anxious before a diagnosis and I probably was fine. He told me not to worry but to call the doctor first thing in the morning, which I did.

My doctor was able to see me that afternoon and reassured me that ICP is “very rare” and I probably don't have it, but they ordered a NST and blood work following the appointment. I waited through the weekend for results. When my results were posted online I had elevated bile acids, elevated liver enzymes at 32 weeks. A few days passed I saw my doctor again to develop a plan. He recommended a delivery at 35 weeks, Ursodiol prescription and monitoring in their office. Simultaneously, during my 20 week ultrasound they discovered dilation around our baby's kidneys. I was being closely monitored for that and had an appointment at 34 weeks with the Nephrology team at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital. I was given the option at that appointment to switch all of my care to MUSC but I could not use my doctor since he was associated with a different hospital. I decided to make the switch so we could seek the best care for his kidneys. Things began to get confusing because I was starting to receive advice and conflicting information from what my OB doctor and I had already planned and discussed for my condition.

I reached out to Allison to ask for guidance on what I needed to ask my doctors for. During the transition from my OB to MUSC I was technically without a doctor for a week while waiting for my next appointment! Talk about stressed! I didn't know where to go in case of an emergency or for NST, this wasn't the hospital I had toured, and I didn't have a nurse on call to reach out to because I wasn't sure who's care I was under. During this time Allison referred me to the ICPcare.org website to digest any and all information, a Facebook support group/forum for ICP Mamas, and was able to give me steps to take to help lower my bile acid numbers. She also gave me action items to ask the doctor for during my next appointment.

I remember one doctor, in particular, pushed back on practically everything I asked about.
• Supplements – “We aren't sure they actually
work.”
• Nutrition – “Your baby still may be stillborn.”
• Acupuncture and chiropractic care – “Yeah, no.”
She also did not want to do lab work twice a week but agreed to do a NST once a week and MFM once a week.

Allison kept checking in and really encouraged me to have more testing done. I continued to push and another doctor finally scheduled more often testing. Through her encouragement and referral I was able to create a plan for diet and supplementation with a nutritionist, my chiropractor was able to adjust me to prepare for an earlier delivery and acupuncturist was able to provide relief from itching and help me not feel as sick. Some may say this is all anecdotal, but I saw my numbers, which were previously going up, start to come down.

During a very emotional couple of weeks, I was not only given action items but I really felt like I had someone in my corner who could ease my anxiety a little bit. I saw several doctors from 32 to 36 weeks and every single doctor seemed to say something slightly different regarding care, but all admitted it wasn't a heavily researched area. After doing kick counts on New Years Eve I went in for an NST because of low movement. The doctor decided to induce me and I had a c-section on January 2 at 36 weeks and 3 days. George was a healthy baby besides jaundice and we were able to come home 4 days later. I can't imagine how much anxiety I would have had, or how confusing this diagnosis might have been without Allison/Judd's Legacy.

18” of I’ll never tell 🤫

Did you know most extension clients don’t initially get extensions for length? We are talking volume, fullness, all the good hair vibes! Because her extensions were “hiding” her natural hair, we upgraded to a longer length this time to keep up with her hair and to give her an elevated style. Now, who can tell there are 2 rows of hand tied extensions in here? 😉

Here’s a bright spot in this rainy, flooded Charleston Friday 🌟 I am officially level 1 certified in ! Do you know about IBE? Not only is this method the most requested hand tied extension method, but the technique

1. Prevents damage from tension related problems✅
2. Eliminates discomfort ✅
3. Gives styling versatility because there are no more exposed beads, bonds or braids ✅

I am moving on to Level 2 and am in need of a live model. Do you think you would be a good fit? Send me a DM so we can chat!

Back to school, back to gram 📸

I have stepped back from social a little bit recently and honestly, it’s been wonderful. I just needed a small timeout, and highly encourage anyone else to do the same. As school gets back in session, so am I.🤩 I enjoy connecting with y’all and sharing all the things that I am learning constantly.
And one more thing - this is one of my very favorite subtle brondes I’ve done using my and the always lovely gloss. 😍
