Found time to finish this cute journal cover. Intend to bind a single fat signature into it tomorrow. The sunflowers and snails on this fabric are too adorable for words. 🌻🐌

I guess some people think the prep stuff is the less fun work of the creative process. I see it differently.

The preparation is the most intimate part of creating for me. Exploring, selecting, and readying for a new project is the source of most of my new ideas. I love turning something old and unloved into something new and ready to be cherished.

Some of the groundwork being laid in my studio these days…

- rescuing discarded vintage books to give the new life.

- cleaning and painting these thrifted frames to display a variety of book page prints.

- sorting through my rather sizable stash of papers to compile junk journal starter kits for upcoming workshops.

- gluing and edging my new personal (and literal) daily junk journal composition book so it’s ready for use.

- building journal covers to fill with goodness.

There’s not a single part of making things that doesn’t bring me joy. I love all of it. ❤️

Hi! I’m Jennifer, the artist behind Chapter Next Art and I thought I’d share a little about my life.

One thing that got left out of these shots: I am a hockey fan. More to point, I am a Carolina Hurricanes fan and we are presently one win away from the Eastern Conference finals. That feels important for you to know. 🤣🖤❤️
