Thank you for the amazing olives, anchovies and peppers to make the perfect tapas today!!
We had the most amazing dinner tonight. It was packaged thoughtfully and was still hot and delicious when we got it back to James Island. We're looking forward to being able to being able to dine-in again, but for now, the take-out was fantastic!

Below is the letter Hanna Raskin references in her "review" of Malagón:

Ms. Raskin:

After careful consideration, we have decided not to grant you access to review our new restaurant: Malagón. We understand that you are an influential voice in the food and beverage community and that this is an uncommon position to take; however, we do not wish to subject ourselves to the type of personal insults or inaccuracies that were on display when you reviewed Chez Nous almost five years ago. Perhaps it was not your intent to disparage us personally or misrepresent some basic elements of our restaurant, but we prefer to err on the side of caution regarding our new venture. We have respect for The Post & Courier as our community’s local paper, but in the two articles in which Malagón has since been mentioned, we have been inaccurately referred to as a “café”, our executive chef’s name was spelled differently three times, and the address of our restaurant was listed as 22 Spring Street instead of 33 Spring Street. These oversights have further convinced us that our best option is to withdraw from being reviewed.

We are reaching out to you by email in advance of our opening as a courtesy to prevent any awkward circumstance should you attempt to dine at Malagón in the coming weeks or months. We do not wish to embarrass or inconvenience you by refusing you service without prior notice. We are also reaching out in an attempt to avoid the type of negative public forum that occurred five years ago after your review and my open letter retort. The third party bullying and/or hate speech on the internet that augmented our exchange was unfortunate and counterproductive to the celebration of Charleston’s food and beverage community which, certainly, we both support. It is certainly within your right to broadcast this letter in an attempt to foment a dramatic public response; however, it is our hope that you will recuse yourself from attempting to review Malagón based on our prior history and the potential for bias.

In closing, please respect our decision not to be reviewed by the Post & Courier. We have no interest in public conflict, but we stand by this email and will defend our position if any of this is taken out of context in an attempt to unfairly disparage our restaurant or restaurant group.
