These two are such an adorable pair that have so much love and respect for each other. Not only does Rob get to share his life with his soulmate Allyn, he also now has the honor of being a step father to Allyn's precious daughter Mary Ellis. OUR NEW LOCATION!!! Just one block from the ocean & five blocks from Shem Creek. Please click to enlarge each photo. This historic building built in 1900 with a beautiful porch & courtyard for outdoor dining is a dream come true. I’ve always dreamed of feeling the ocean breeze as I bake treats in a cozy kitchen filled with natural light. And I’ve always dreamed of having my cafe be the hub of a local community, where families & kids & local artists & everyone else can convene & enjoy life.
An amazing woman in this amazing neighborhood bought this amazing property for the exact purpose of bringing a cafe / bakery / community hub to this area because Old Village doesn’t have one yet, so this is truly the opportunity of a lifetime, and I am SO grateful for it!!
The renovations will begin as soon as the permit process finishes, so we are hoping to open in October. I’ll keep you posted on our progress!! In the meantime, I’m still accepting orders for Wedding Cakes, catering, and other special events.

The Gala storefront can’t survive without parking and with such limited access any longer. The construction mess right beside us has been stalled for over 10 months now with zero progress. I worked so hard to keep Gala alive thru the COVID shutdown. Working without closing for a single day and without any government assistance. Last fall I was feeling proud and excited about surviving this unprecedented pandemic, finally seeing a small uptick in business. But just as I was seeing a glimmer of hope a developer closed off the entire parking lot, destroyed it and then abandoned it. It’s been devastating to business.
I love Avondale so much! But I have to move to a new location, which I will announce later this week.
I’m so sorry it’s hard to park but come bid us farewell in Avondale. I’m so excited for the new location but sad to leave the Avondale community. Thank you for all the love and support over the last seven years. Our last day open for business in Avondale will be July 10th.
