Incredibly sad news today. RIP Sixto Diaz Rodriguez

Upon watching Searching for Sugar Man for the first time, I was deeply moved by Rodriguez' story of his upbringing in Detroit, Michigan where he gained little attention for his folk rock, psychedelic rock genius in his two albums (featured in picture above) 1970’s Cold Fact and 1971’s Coming from Reality. Unbeknownst to him for decades, Rodriguez gained fame in South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. Upon learning of his past fame in South Africa where he sold more records than Elvis Presley, he was able to revive his music career and reap the benefits of his art. Thank you for your contributions to the music world and here at Monster, we will continue to honor you, Mr. Sugar Man 💔
