Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefers

“On 7/23/20 we fished out of Nantucket for giant bluefin tuna. Started the day out catching live mackerel, setting up near a spot our good friend Bob Decosta @albacorecharters fished the day before. We immediately were right in the middle of 150+ feeding humpback whales and white sided porpoises and on our second drift we hooked up on the flat line and watched the giant make a big run out on the surface. After a 35 mins we got the 90” bluefin within 30’ of the boat before it took off again, taking a couple hundred yards of line. Historically, a 90” bluefin will take us a hour/hour 30 mins to land so I knew this fish wasn’t ready to give up. After two hours and 45 minutes of wild surface runs, deep dives, and violent head shakes, this fish was not acting as the typical “tuna” during the fight. As the bluefin approached the boatside, and first mate @jj1221g reached for the dart, Mr B decided the fish deserved to be released after such a epic battle in addition to the fact that due to covid and lack of dinner parties and interactions with people, we simply had no use for that amount of fish. Once we “palm beach released” the bluefin Mr B recited the lyrics to “slack tide” with a large smile on his face. “I've got a fish on the line
But there won't be a feast
We've got too much in common
And he shall be released”. Maybe one day we’ll meet again” @captvinnielasorsa #seethegoodside #lastmangoboatworks
