Benefits of Chia Seeds

Chia is an edible seed that comes from the desert plant Salvia hispanica, grown in Mexico dating back to Mayan and Aztec cultures.
Help weight loss: According to some studies Chia Seeds are popular for #weight #loss. They reduce food cravings by preventing some of the food that you eat from getting absorbed into your system. This blockage of calorie absorption makes them a great diet helper.
Feel fuller faster: They can also help your diet by making you feel full. This is because they absorb 10 times their weight in water, forming a bulky gel.
Hydration for athletes: They are also great for athletes because the "chia gel" can hydrate the body.
Reduce your blood pressure: There's evidence to suggest they can reduce blood pressure.
Omega-3: They are the richest plant source of Omega-3 (the vital fats that protect against inflammation—such as arthritis—and heart disease). In fact, they contain more Omega-3 than salmon!
Benefits for diabetes: Because chia seeds slow down how fast our bodies convert carbohydrates into simple sugars, studies indicate they can control blood sugar. This leads scientists to believe chia seeds may have great benefits for diabetics.
The fiber absorbs large amounts of water and expands in the stomach, which should increase fullness and slow the absorption of food.
High amount of antioxidants. Used in #Clean #Eating recipes
They are easier to digest than flax seeds, and don't need to be ground up.
They can be eaten raw. (They have a nice "nutty" flavor.)
They can be soaked in fruit juice (in Mexico, they call this "chia fresca").

Fiber: 11 grams.
Protein: 4 grams.
Fat: 9 grams (5 of which are Omega-3s).
Calcium: 18% of the RDA.
Manganese: 30% of the RDA.
Magnesium: 30% of the RDA.
Phosphorus: 27% of the RDA.
They also contain a decent amount of Zinc, Vitamin B3 (Niacin), Potassium, Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) and Vitamin B2.
This is particularly impressive when you consider that this is just a single ounce, which supplies only 137 calories and one gram of digestible carbohydrate!

If your looking to steadily lose weight the healthy way, then try this two-shake-a day-plan. Unlike fad diets, you won’t starve. You won’t sabotage hard-earned muscle. You’ll get healthier in the process...

Here’s how it works...

Drink two high protein, low carb shakes a day with fiber and omega-3s added. Boost your shake with veggies or fruit. This makes them taste so good! Have three other meals (snacks) a day. Eat a sensible dinner and keep your calorie intake to about 500 less per day than your breakeven calorie level and you’ll lose one pound of fat a week. It’s a very livable plan that’s backed up by clinical research. Adjust your carb intake to lose weight faster or slower. Be sure to exercise at least three times a week (this includes long brisk walks) and watch the weight magically fall off without radical changes in your diet. My favorites are whey protein which contain about 130 calories and 25g of protein per serving or meal replacement shakes which are a larger serving size of protein containing 250-300 calories per serving. Many people use half of a serving for each shake.
